The day
of vengeance, the fear and hope of the remnant of Israel, and the
church prays that God's power may be manifested.
Hello
My Friend/Guest,
“Wherefore
seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of
witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so
easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set
before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith;
who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising
the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of
God...For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son
whom he receiveth. If
ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son
is he whom the father chasteneth not? But if ye be without
chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and
not sons.”
- Hebrews 12:1,2,6-8.
Christians
have a race to run, of service and sufferings, a course of active and
passive obedience, in all of which they need to keep their eyes fixed
upon the Lord Jesus Christ. The best of God’s children may need
chastisement, but afflictions rightly endured, though they be the
fruits of God’s displeasure are yet proofs of His paternal love and
designed to fit us better for His service and to bring us closer in
our relationship with Him. It's not always easy serving God, but it's
the best way to live and one that eternal rewards.
Through
Isaiah, Jesus explains what we also find in the Book of Revelation,
Judgment Day, known here as the Day of Vengeance. Jesus will return
one day to claim those who are His and get vengeance upon the rest
who caused His people to sin and refuse His themselves.
“For
the day of vengeance is in mine heart, and the year of my redeemed is
come. And I looked, and there was none to help; and I wondered that
there was none to uphold: therefore mine own arm brought salvation
unto me; and my fury, it upheld me. And I will tread down the people
in mine anger, and make them drunk in my fury, and I will bring down
their strength to the earth. I will mention the lovingkindnesses of
the LORD, and the praises of the LORD, according to all that the LORD
hath bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of
Israel, which he hath bestowed on them according to his mercies, and
according to the multitude of his lovingkindnesses. For he said,
Surely they are my people, children that will not lie: so he was
their Saviour.”
- Isaiah 63:4-8.
When Christ shall come forth in power,
wearing vesture (a robe) dipped in blood, crowned with many crowns
and revealing Himself as King of Kings, all of Israel as well as the
rest of the world will finally realize that Christ is the King and
they will tremble. “And
I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon
him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge
and make war. His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were
many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he
himself. And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his
name is called The Word of God. And the armies which were in heaven
followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and
clean. And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he
should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron:
and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty
God. And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING
OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.”
-Revelation 19:11-16.
That's
the amazing thing about God, He knows who are is and even when we
mess up, while He might hide His face from the sin, He never leaves,
forsakes us, nor goes back on His promises. He promises Christ's
return and He promises to save all that believe in His Son. Through
Isaiah, God tells Israel as well as the rest of the world that
vengeance is coming, but all who are saved will be rewarded as they
wait for Him.
“Oh
that thou wouldest rend the heavens, that thou wouldest come down,
that the mountains might flow down at thy presence, As when the
melting fire burneth, the fire causeth the waters to boil, to make
thy name known to thine adversaries, that the nations may tremble at
thy presence! When thou didst terrible things which we looked not
for, thou camest down, the mountains flowed down at thy presence. For
since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by
the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath
prepared for him that waiteth for him. Thou meetest him that
rejoiceth and worketh righteousness, those that remember thee in thy
ways: behold, thou art wroth; for we have sinned: in those is
continuance, and we shall be saved.”
- Isaiah 64:1-5.
The remnant of Israel in the day of Christ’s
vengeance will bewail their sins, thereby justifying God in all their
afflictions, owning themselves unworthy of His mercy and thereby
preparing for the deliverance He has promised them. This is likewise
true of those saved under the Gospel of grace to
whom it is revealed by the Spirit the deep things of God as the
result of their acceptance of the crucified and risen Savior. “For
as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and
as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law; (For
not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the
law shall be justified. For when the Gentiles, which have not the
law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not
the law, are a law unto themselves: Which shew the work of the law
written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and
their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)
In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ
according to my gospel.”
- Romans 2:12-16.
Did you ever wonder why employers are
harder on their best workers? It is this, they know the work, they
know how much they can handle, and they depend on them to carry the
load for the slackers. The same is true for God, God knows the work
we do to serve Him, He knows how much we can handle, and He depends
on us to carry the load. Our efforts never go unnoticed, God always
keeps good tabs on what we do for Him, even when we have days that
are not so faith filled. Since, God depends on us we can expect
chastening, but praise God that we are witnesses to the blessed hope
of Christ our Savior. “For
the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
Teaching
us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live
soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking
for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God
and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might
redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar
people, zealous of good works.”
- Titus 2:11-14.
Today's
Prayer:
God,
Thank
You for calling on me to serve You, even if all I do is say a prayer
for someone in distress You are using me for something special for
You. While I do not know why You chose me to represent You, I do know
that because You chose me I am a witness. Lead me and guide me in
Your will and ways, let me be the godly example that others will want
to follow. Let me not forget that Christ lives in me and as I wait
patiently for His return let me never lose sight of the blessings You
have waiting for me, especially eternal life. I love You Lord and ask
this in Jesus' name. Amen.
God Bless You, I am praying for
you,
Christina
