Today's Message: All is Possible
No matter how bleak things look, God is in control of all things, all things are possible with God for those who believe.

The Gospel of Luke is the forty-second book of the Bible, the third book of the New Testament, and contains twenty-four chapters. The author of the book is Luke and it was written to
all believers, although the first intended audience was to the Greeks to whom Jesus is presented as the perfect man. He also addresses one specific believer, Theophilus. The purpose of the book was to write an orderly account of the ministry of Jesus, what we are to learn from the book is that our mission is identical to that of Jesus, to reach the lost with the good news of the Gospel. The Holy Spirit singled out Luke, the beloved physician, to give us this inspired Gospel. The writer of the third Gospel is called by Paul the beloved physician, he also wrote the book of Acts and was Paul's frequent companion. His devotion to Christ caused him to treasure the words that He spoke, as well as everything that concerned the Savior's life. “Forasmuch as many have taken in hand to set forth in order a declaration of those things which are most surely believed among us, Even as they delivered them unto us, which from the beginning were eyewitnesses, and ministers of the word; It seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write unto thee in order, most excellent Theophilus, That thou mightest know the certainty of those things, wherein thou hast been instructed.” - Luke 1:1-4. Luke is the only Gospel where the the writer is described, Luke is saying that he is going to record the things that he witnessed, heard, and perfectly understood while these events take place for all to believe. The word Theophilus, means follower or beloved of God. Luke is writing to those who are beloved followers of God, of the Messiah, Jesus Christ.

Luke also records the birth of John the Baptist, whom was a gift from God to the priest Zacharias and Elisabeth.
THERE was in the days of Herod, the king of Judaea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abia: and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth. And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless. And they had no child, because that Elisabeth was barren, and they both were now well stricken in years..........And there appeared unto him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of incense. And when Zacharias saw him, he was troubled, and fear fell upon him. But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John.” - Luke 1:5-7,11-13 . Zacharias means, remembered of Yah (God). Elisabeth was the daughter of a Levitical priest of the lineage of Aaron, and married this priest Zacharias. "John" in Hebrew means "Yah's gift". Because of Zacharias and Elisabeth's age, this child would be a gift from God. So the last prophet, John the Baptist, was named by God, and given through His messenger, Gabriel. John the Baptist will not be the savior of the world, but by and through his preaching will turn many people to our Heavenly Father. John would be the forerunner for Jesus.

Jesus would have been born with the sinful nature of Adam if Joseph had been His biological father. This would have made Jesus a sinner like all mankind and, thus, unable to be the sinless substitute for our sins. “
And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary. And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women. And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be. And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end. Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God. And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren. For with God nothing shall be impossible.” - Luke 1:26-37. Gabriel is telling Mary that she is about to bear the Savior of the world, that she will be the mother of the very person that all mankind will look to for their salvation. Her Child will be the eternal king of all Israel. Here she is told that she is going to conceive while she is not even married. Mary didn't question that it would be done, but how it was possible when she was so young and did not have a man to do it.
Gabriel's response, “for with God nothing shall be impossible”. This is a lesson that we all need to hear and get into our heads. If we want your prayers answered, it is alright to ask for guidance and instruction, but don't doubt that it is impossible for God to do. God can do anything He pleases, for He created all things and controls all things.

Today's Prayer:

Dear God,
Lord,
help us to be reminded that You are the Almighty God as we trust You to do the impossible. Help us not to ponder our problems, but instead to pray for Your will to be done in our lives and those we pray for. You assure us throughout the Scriptures both by teaching and example that “Nothing is impossible with God.” We want to fully trust You to do the impossible. In Jesus' Name.........Amen.

Have a wonderful and blessed day/night and enjoy the rest of your week.
God Bless You,
Christina
