Today's
Message:
Dealing
With Illness
Often
when one is dealing with illness, especially something that may be
terminal we are often left with the question of “Why?” Pain and
illness is not meant to draw us away from God, but bring us closer to
Him.
There have been numerous studies proving that people whom
seek the help of God to heal them recover quicker, many from even
terminal illnesses. The key to their recovery is FAITH. Their faith
was so strong in God that nothing could stop them from reaching Him.
As Jesus was on His way to help a terminally ill girl He faced a
multitude of people touching Him and grabbing at Him. “And
a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all
her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any, Came
behind him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately
her issue of blood stanched. And Jesus said, Who touched me? When all
denied, Peter and they that were with him said, Master, the multitude
throng thee and press thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me? And
Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is
gone out of me. And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came
trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto him before
all the people for what cause she had touched him, and how she was
healed immediately. And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good
comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace.”
- Luke 8:43-48. This
ill woman with the blood issue came up behind Jesus and touched the
edge of His garment, and instantly she was healed. Peter reminded
Jesus that the people are all around you, and many people are
touching you. Why do you ask "Who touched Me?" when many
are? The Word "virtue" in the Greek text means "dunamis".
It means power, inherent power. It is where our word for dynamite
comes from. Jesus could feel the power from His own body leaving when
this girl used her faith to touch the Lord, and become healed. Being
healed is one of the rewards of being a believer. The more the Spirit
of God is in your life, the stronger your faith becomes, and with it,
peace of mind. You know that every word that He promises, is true,
and you can have the faith to act on those promises. So if you become
a
hearer and doer of the Word,
you can expect God to act on His promises.
While Jesus was
tending to the woman, He had gotten word that the girl had did. “But
when Jesus heard it, he answered him, saying, Fear not: believe only,
and she shall be made whole. And
when he came into the house, he suffered no man to go in, save Peter,
and James, and John, and the father and the mother of the maiden. And
all wept, and bewailed her: but he said, Weep not; she is not dead,
but sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn, knowing that she was
dead. And he put them all out, and took her by the hand, and called,
saying, Maid, arise. And her spirit came again, and she arose
straightway: and he commanded to give her meat. And her parents were
astonished: but he charged them that they should tell no man what was
done.”
-Luke 8:50-56. When Jesus walked into the house, every one there was
weeping and wailing over the death of this girl. However Jesus told
them that she was not dead, but asleep. So when Jesus told them that
she was asleep the laughed and ridiculed Him. Because of their
unbelief they were making a problem for the healing to take place.
After they all left, including the disciples, Jesus turned to the
girl's body and said,
"Maid, arise."
This way there would be no doubt in the room. Stop
and think for a moment, this girl was dead, and the whole family and
friends were there weeping over the little girl. They all knew that
she was dead, and had seen her dead body. Now when this little girl
comes out of the room with this girl, Jesus tells the parents to say
nothing to anyone. With all the good news in their mind, and to say
nothing would be unbearable. Time
has everything to do with God's Word, and the order that things are
done within the plan of God. At this time it wasn't time to be
identified as the Christ, and go to the cross. The plan of God from
the Old Testament had not been completely fulfilled. Touching and
healing from the dead is not creating life, but allowing the soul to
return from it's rest. Jesus is documenting to His disciples that He
is the Emmanuel of the prophecies of the prophets. He is showing us
that Jesus is God with us in person.
These are just two
examples of the miraculous healings of Jesus, He is still capable of
healing just as He did back then. No matter what physical problems we
are dealing with He is with us and will heal us one way or another.
We all have to realize that as Christian's we need not fear even
terminal illness because God is with us. He is in control of
everything, including when we will join Him in heaven. “What
time I am afraid, I will trust in thee. In God I will praise his
word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do
unto me.”
- Psalm 56:3,4.
Have a wonderful and blessed day/night
God
Bless You,
Christina
