Today's
Message: Fearing What is Ahead
All
one has to do is look out the door to see that the world is in chaos,
wars and destruction are all around us, but as Christian's we need
not fear what is ahead because we have hope and faith in God and His
Word.
The prophet Jeremiah exposed the worldly, compromising
lifestyle of the Israelite's and the destruction that was about to
take place if they fail to turn from their wicked ways. Both
Judah and Israel had sunk deep into idolatry, but God
was willing to forgive them and save them from the destruction that
was about to take place. “If thou wilt
return, O Israel, saith the LORD, return unto me: and if thou wilt
put away thine abominations out of my sight, then shalt thou not
remove. And thou shalt swear, The LORD liveth, in truth, in judgment,
and in righteousness; and the nations shall bless themselves in him,
and in him shall they glory. For thus saith the LORD to the men of
Judah and Jerusalem, Break up your fallow ground, and sow not among
thorns. Circumcise yourselves to the LORD, and take away the
foreskins of your heart, ye men of Judah and inhabitants of
Jerusalem: lest my fury come forth like fire, and burn that none can
quench it, because of the evil of your doings.” - Jeremiah
4:1-4. God is telling them to return to Him, but get rid of all the
things that are an abomination first. God wanted to bless them, but
He will not bless those that
refuse to study His Word, and apply His instructions to their lives.
If we choose to reject God's Word, and the laws and instructions He
gave, He will not bless us and this includes those who are ignorant
to God's Word. Just because one ignores God's Word it does not mean
that he/she is exempt from suffering the consequences for it.
A
horrifying vision of the Holy Land being utterly devastated was
foretold and as vivid as all this was to his perception, the national
leaders refused to listen to his warnings. “And
though they say, The LORD liveth; surely they swear falsely. O
LORD, are not thine eyes upon the truth? thou hast stricken them, but
they have not grieved; thou hast consumed them, but they have refused
to receive correction: they have made their faces harder than a rock;
they have refused to return. Therefore I said, Surely these are poor;
they are foolish: for they know not the way of the LORD, nor the
judgment of their God. I will get me unto the great men, and will
speak unto them; for they have known the way of the LORD, and the
judgment of their God: but these have altogether broken the yoke, and
burst the bonds. Wherefore a lion out of the forest shall slay them,
and a wolf of the evenings shall spoil them, a leopard shall watch
over their cities: every one that goeth out thence shall be torn in
pieces: because their transgressions are many, and their backslidings
are increased.” - Isaiah 5:2-6. God is telling the leaders
that they have been giving false information to the people, yet they
refuse to hear or learn the truth and are going to suffer for their
foolish ways. Today, just
like then, even if you go into a house of God, they swear that what
they are saying is directly from God, and yet they teach a bunch of
false information. The false preachers go on deceiving the people,
they teach their lies and false doctrines, and swear that it is in
the Father's name. Those who call themselves Christian's are going to
have a rude awakening because they have become so ignorant to God's
Word that they don't know what to expect. It's time to really examine
the church that you belong to and see for yourself if it lines up
with God's Word, if they are not Bible centered and encourage you to
read another book instead of the Bible you are being deceived.
When
I was reading these chapters this morning I could not stop thinking
that the word Jerusalem can easily be replaced with the word America.
We are quickly falling in line with Scripture, people truly are
foolish if they think that ignoring God and His Word is going to save
them from the same fate as the Israelite's. Jesus Said, “Take
heed that no man deceive you. For
many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive
many. And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be
not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is
not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against
kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and
earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of
sorrows.” - Matthew 24:4-8. The
Holy Spirit will always lead and be in accordance with the Word of
God. He will not contradict what is written in God's Word.
We need to recognize
that the prophecies that were written long ago are in fact happening
today and exactly on time, proving that the Word of God is accurate
in detail. It could become very disturbing to be living around the
events that are marking the close of this generation, without the
knowledge that God is in control. Praise God for His Word!
Today's
Prayer:
Dear
God,
Lord, I
want to pass on life transforming truths from Your Holy Word to those
around me and those who follow me. I do so through my actions,
my thoughts, and my words. May I honor You in these areas of my
life so that I influence others for the Kingdom of God. In
Jesus' Name.........Amen.
Have a wonderful and blessed
day/night and weekend.
God Bless You,
Christina
