Today's Message: Fountain of Living Water
Jesus, who is the Word in the flesh, is the Fountain of Living Water and when we seek Him to quench our thirsty soul we will be satisfied.

The book of Jeremiah is the twenty-fourth book of the Old Testament/Bible and contains fifty-two chapters. The author of the book is Jeremiah and it was written to Judah to warn of the coming judgment of captivity and call for repentance. What we are to learn from the book is that national disasters and deterioration's are often due to

disobedience to God.

God revealed to Jeremiah that He has a plan and purpose for each of us even before our birth, “
Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations. Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child. But the LORD said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak. Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the LORD.” - Jeremiah 1:4-8. It is revealed that our birth is not our real beginning, nor will our death be our end. Since God is the Giver of life, let us recognize the sanctity of all human life. Just think! God knew you and had a plan for your life even before the day you were born.

God is the Source of all that nourishes, enriches, and satisfies our dependent nature, real satisfaction physically, emotionally, and spiritually is only available from God. In the desert climate of Palestine, water was the first necessity for human existence. No one in their right mind would exchange an Artesian well with abundant water for a man-made, broken cistern that could hold no water, but the nation of Judah was even more foolish. “Hath a nation changed their gods, which are yet no gods? but my people have changed their glory for that which doth not profit. Be astonished, O ye heavens, at this, and be horribly afraid, be ye very desolate, saith the LORD. For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.” - Jeremiah 2:11-13. The two evils are the same thing, there is the self-willed departure from God and the self-sufficient life without Him. The dream of a self-sufficient life leads to disappointment and death. Yet, they callously deserted Him for their man-made, lifeless gods which cannot sustain life. This illustrates the self-sufficient human nature of mankind who refuse to be loyal to God.

The people of Judah were symbolic of those who reject the Bible as the Fountain of Living Water. Many have turned to the popular books by men. But compared to the Word of God, they are no more than
cisterns, that can hold no water. Many writings of men may be helpful, but they are not equal to or to be a substitute for the Bible as the source of all truth. Jesus, speaking to a Samaritan woman, explains what living water is. “The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water? Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle? Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.” - John 4:11-14. Our soul gets dry and pretty much loses life to it when we are not watering and nurturing it, if we are not careful it dies and life has no meaning. The only way we can nurture our soul is by giving it proper food and water, this food and water is the Word of God and when we feed and drink from it the soul becomes more lively and life has new meaning. The more we read the Word of God the more we learn the Will of God, the more we learn the Will of God the more we learn what God's plan and purpose for us is.

It was no easy matter for Jeremiah to come boldly forward and threaten the judgment of God against his country. Jeremiah was to speak only what God commanded him. It is our duty to be equally faithful. Truth is not the private property of us in America; it is the rightful heritage of all the world. That is why it is so important to provide
Bibles and Bible Pathways to all who request them. In a real sense our lives are a type of our Lord's. Like Noah, Abraham, Sarah, Jacob, Joseph, and Moses, we are choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season. “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good report. Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.….......But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” - Hebrews 11:1-3, 6.

Have a wonderful and blessed day/night and enjoy your weekend. TGIF!
God Bless You,
Christina
