Hello
My Friend/Guest,
“And
Levi made him a great feast in his own house: and there was a great
company of publicans and of others that sat down with them. But
their scribes and Pharisees murmured against his disciples, saying,
Why do ye eat and drink with publicans and sinners? And Jesus
answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician;
but they that are sick. I
came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance...And he
spake also a parable unto them; No man putteth a piece of a new
garment upon an old; if otherwise, then both the new maketh a rent,
and the piece that was taken out of the new agreeth not with the old.
And
no man putteth new wine into old bottles; else the new wine will
burst the bottles, and be spilled, and the bottles shall perish. But
new wine must be put into new bottles; and both are preserved. No man
also having drunk old wine straightway desireth new: for he saith,
The old is better.”
- Luke 5:29-32,36-39.
Who are sinners? We are. No one is
without sin, we have all done something wrong in our lifetime, making
us a sinner. Who came for us? Jesus did. What did He come here for?
To bring us to repentance. What does repentance mean? The word
repentance means a change of mind, or a conversion from sin to God.
Now, that is the hard part, many people reject Christ because they do
not want to loose the sin, illustrated by Jesus and new wine in old
bottles. Having
drunk the old wine of their carnal lusts and pleasures, they do not
desire the new wine of the Gospel, and of the grace of God, and of
spiritual things that comes along with knowing Christ.
The
Book of Micah is the thirty-third book of the Old Testament/Bible and
contains seven chapters. The author of the book is Micah and it was
written to Israel and all nations. The time line for these events
took place approximately between 758BC and 710BC. The purpose of the
book is a call to repentance to avoid judgment, what we are to learn
from the book is that God judges all and pardons all who repent. “He
will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our
iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the
sea.”
- Micah 7:19.
Micah
was raised up to support Isaiah, and to confirm his predictions, God
sends Micah, He has a message for all on the earth, destruction is
coming to Jerusalem and all of Israel. “Hear,
all ye people; hearken, O earth, and all that therein is: and let the
Lord GOD be witness against you, the Lord from his holy temple. For,
behold, the LORD cometh forth out of his place, and will come down,
and tread upon the high places of the earth. And the mountains shall
be molten under him, and the valleys shall be cleft, as wax before
the fire, and as the waters that are poured down a steep place.”
- Micah 1:2-4.
There comes a time when those who have
persisted in sin must face ruin without remedy. God cannot help them
because they will not convert from sin. And while He loves His people
He will not stand there and watch them living in the lusts of their
flesh. In fact, He turns His back to sin and will send judgment.
“Then
shall they cry unto the LORD, but he will not hear them: he will even
hide his face from them at that time, as they have behaved themselves
ill in their doings...Then shall the seers be ashamed, and the
diviners confounded: yea, they shall all cover their lips; for there
is no answer of God. But truly I am full of power by the spirit of
the LORD, and of judgment, and of might, to declare unto Jacob his
transgression, and to Israel his sin...Therefore shall Zion for your
sake be plowed as a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the
mountain of the house as the high places of the forest.”
-Micah 3:4,7,8,12.
God
warns, God does, but God also forgives, and forgives, and forgives,
through Micah we learn of the glorious day that Christ will reign and
rebuild His kingdom with His remnant of believers. “But
in the last days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of the
house of the LORD shall be established in the top of the mountains,
and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall flow unto
it. And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to
the mountain of the LORD, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and
he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the
law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.
And he shall judge among many people, and rebuke strong nations afar
off; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their
spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up a sword against
nation, neither shall they learn war any more.”
- Micah 4:1-3.
His promise is for all who convert from sin to
God, in other words all who accept and receive Jesus Christ as their
Savior. Once saved and converted, there may be times in our lives
where we could be hindering our communication with God to the point
that He does not hear our prayers. Things
like hidden sin, disloyalty, and indifference, but God is faithful,
He never leaves you, and always send the light. “Therefore
I will look unto the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation:
my God will hear me. Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I
fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD shall be a
light unto me. I will bear the indignation of the LORD, because I
have sinned against him, until he plead my cause, and execute
judgment for me: he will bring me forth to the light, and I shall
behold his righteousness...Who is a God like unto thee, that
pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant
of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he
delighteth in mercy. He will turn again, he will have compassion upon
us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins
into the depths of the sea.”
- Micah 7:7-9,18,19.
At
times we all do things that hinder our relationship with God, is
important that we, like Micah, look to the Lord and let Him guide us
at all times. If we sin we should expect some chastisement, but it is
better to come forward because the punishment will be less severe.
God knows our hearts and whether or not we have converted from sin to
God or just playing the part. He is just like a parent that gives a
child a punishment, He still loves you, in fact, He does it because
He loves you. When you fear God nothing can stop His blessings.
“Having
therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves
from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in
the fear of God.”
- II Corinthians 7:1.
Today's
Prayer:
Dear
God,
Lord, though I am called to go through many hardships, there
isn’t one that I face alone. For in my weakness You are made
strong, in my folly You are the God of infinite wisdom, and in my
fear I take hold of the hope offered to me which is firm and secure.
You will not abandon the work of Your hands, but fulfill Your purpose
for me as You strengthen, sustain, and instruct me during times of
affliction. I do not want to become lazy, but to imitate those who
through faith and patience inherit what has been promised. Keep me
faithful to the end. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
God Bless
You, I am praying for you,
Christina
