Today's
Message: Gift
of Eternal Life
The world is heading for
judgment, but we as Christian's can rest assure that we have the Gift
of Eternal Life through our Lord, Jesus Christ.
The only
pleasant experience in Jeremiah's life during this time was his
fellowship with God. Jeremiah
pleaded with God to intercede with these false teachers and false
prophets and force them to stop telling the people and the king that
the punishment and captivity won't take place, he wanted God to do
something about it, or he knew the people would be deceived. God
gives a decree what he is going to do, in response to Jeremiah's
request, “Then
said the LORD unto me, Though Moses and Samuel stood before me, yet
my mind could not be toward this people: cast them out of my sight,
and let them go forth. And
it shall come to pass, if they say unto thee, Whither shall we go
forth? then thou shalt tell them, Thus saith the LORD; Such as are
for death, to death; and such as are for the sword, to the sword; and
such as are for the famine, to the famine; and such as are for the
captivity, to the captivity. And I will appoint over them four kinds,
saith the LORD: the sword to slay, and the dogs to tear, and the
fowls of the heaven, and the beasts of the earth, to devour and
destroy.” - Jeremiah 15:1-3. God is referencing Moses and
Samuel because they were able to change God's mind when He had placed
judgment upon the people for their evil ways, but this time God is
saying that the people are so evil that He does not even want to see
them and whatever they are about to face, they will face on their
own, whether it be death, famine, or captivity, they will be
destroyed.
I imagine that it was pretty rough for Jeremiah to
tell his people that they were about to be destroyed, if they would
not listen to God then why would they listen to him. Do you think God
actually wants to see His people suffer? Of course not! He gives
every opportunity for people to see their mistake before they suffer
the consequences. He warned the house of Judah, time and time again
of the judgment they faced, but if they or any nation turn from their
wicked ways they will be saved. “If that
nation, against whom I have pronounced, turn from their evil, I will
repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them. And at what
instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom,
to build and to plant it; If it do evil in my sight, that it obey not
my voice, then I will repent of the good, wherewith I said I would
benefit them. Now therefore go to, speak to the men of Judah, and to
the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying, Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I
frame evil against you, and devise a device against you: return ye
now every one from his evil way, and make your ways and your doings
good. And they said, There is no hope: but we will walk after our own
devices, and we will every one do the imagination of his evil heart.”
- Jeremiah 18:8-12. This is
God's last warning to them to turn from their wicked ways, what
happens from this point on is of their own making. God is full of
mercy and compassion, but He is no fool, if one has truly no desire
to obey and follow Him then He will know it and he/she will have to
deal with the consequences on their own. Every person will pass this
sentence upon themselves and will get exactly what they have asked
for in life. I will tell you that there was a time in my life when I
did not listen to God's warnings concerning things in my life and I
suffered, but I deserved everything I got, in fact I probably got
less than what I deserved, but I live to tell about it and now I am
free and forgiven and out of that horrible life. Praise God! Praise
Jesus! Halleluiah!
The sad thing is that the world today
continues to press forward in the same manner, judgment day is
coming, this time every nation will suffer, and so many people are
going to regret having ignored God and His Word. Jesus Said, “I
am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should
not abide in darkness. And
if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I
came not to judge the world, but to save the world. He that rejecteth
me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word
that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.”
- John 12:46-48. Jesus is God's Word in the flesh and He commands all
believers warn to tell the truth to the world. It
is not easy for me to tell people that if they do not accept Christ
into their lives they will end up in hell, no matter how good they
try to be, but the truth is no matter what we do, if we do not know
Christ we will not go to heaven. And ignoring that there is a God,
heaven, or hell will not change the fact that every person on this
earth who does not accept Christ will suffer the same fate. Accepting
Christ does not mean that one can not have a good life, in fact one
will have a much better life. Do you think it would be easier to
handle problems knowing that You have Christ on your side to help you
through it? He died for all of us! What better gift will we ever
receive than the gift of eternal life?
Today's
Prayer:
Dear
God,
Lord, because
of our human nature we are often drawn to activities and things that
have no lasting or eternal value. Yet, we want to earnestly
pursue those opportunities which help us to honor You and keep us
grounded in the life You have instructed us to live. A half-hearted
believer is torn between serving You and the world, so help us to be
wholehearted in following You. Then we will be more and more
passionate about our walk with You which will naturally turn our eyes
away from worthless things. Thank You for preserving our lives
not only here, but for giving us the gift of eternal life. I praise
You Lord, and thank You in Jesus' Name..........Amen.
Have
a wonderful and blessed day/night and enjoy the rest of your week.
God
Bless You,
Christina
