Today's Message: God Wants You
No matter what you have done on the past, God wants and uses every person who accepts Christ in their lives.

The book of Amos is the Thirtieth book of the Old Testament/Bible and contains nine chapters. The author of the book is Amos and it was written to the people Israel. The purpose of the book was to call Israel back to God. What we are to learn from the book is that God calls all nations to prepare for the day they will meet the One and Only God of all creation.

God will use any person who trusts and believes in Him to reach His people, Amos was only a shepherd from the village of Tekoa in Judah, but he was willing to speak for God against sin even beyond the borders of the southern kingdom. “
The words of Amos, who was among the herdmen of Tekoa, which he saw concerning Israel in the days of Uzziah king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel, two years before the earthquake.” - Amos 1:1. Amos went to the Northern Kingdom and delivered his prophecy of impending judgment in Bethel, the site of one of Israel's two false worship centers and one of several residences of King Jeroboam II (See II Kings 14:16-29). This took place at a time when the northern kingdom was prospering financially and expanding its boundaries. Hear ye, and testify in the house of Jacob, saith the Lord GOD, the God of hosts, That in the day that I shall visit the transgressions of Israel upon him I will also visit the altars of Bethel: and the horns of the altar shall be cut off, and fall to the ground. And I will smite the winter house with the summer house; and the houses of ivory shall perish, and the great houses shall have an end, saith the LORD.” - Amos 3:13-15. They failed to heed the warning concerning the coming judgment of God so because of their sins and ignorance destruction was inevitable. God is very patient and understanding when it comes to our coming to Him, however, He only warns us so many times before He will place judgment on all who are ignorant to His warnings. Being ignorant and not knowing are two different things, those whom do not know who God is can not help themselves, for they know not what they are doing. However, those who deliberately know who God is and ignore Him know what they are doing and are completely ignoring Him or trying to fit Him in their world when they feel like it, that is when God gets angry and causes judgment upon His people.

Israel was a chosen nation, an elect people. God had delivered them out of Egypt and miraculously helped them to conquer the promised land, but Israel failed to keep His Commandments. As Christians, we too have a miraculous heritage. We have been saved from the bondage of sin and delivered from satanic control through Christ's sacrificial death on the cross. Like Israel, we too are tempted to be ungrateful and forget that we are not our own, but bought with a price. “What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.” - I Corinthians 6:19,20. It's easy also to ignore our responsibility to be obedient in reaching a lost world with His Word. It is not what we own but who owns us that qualifies us to be used by Him.

Our Lord, while here on earth, continually used the expression, “my Father hath sent Me”, Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.” - John 20:21. God often uses ordinary people like Amos to proclaim His message. “Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: That no flesh should glory in his presence. But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.” - I Corinthians 1:25-31. Jesus Christ is our strength and He alone chooses us, who are faithful to Him. No matter if we are rich, poor, smart, dumb, blind, or lame, He will use anyone who seeks Him and loves Him.

Have a wonderful and blessed day/night and
God Bless You,
Christina
