Hello
My Friend/Guest,
“Remember
that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead
according to my gospel: Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer,
even unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound. Therefore I endure
all things for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the
salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. It
is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live
with him: If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him,
he also will deny us: If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he
cannot deny himself.”
- II Timothy 2:8-13.
As Christians we are going to have to
deal with some pain and suffering because of our faith in Christ. It
is sad to say, but false religion has corrupted Christianity to the
point that being a Christian is like being of the devil to the world.
However, true Christians stand out, they are dead to the world, it's
pleasures, profits, and honors, and alive forever with Christ in a
better world. While Christ is faithful to fulfill His promises and
warnings, it is by us living and standing for His truths that opens
the hearts of unbeliever's as we remain faithful to God through every
bit of sorrows.
The
Book of Lamentations is the twenty-fifth book of the Old
Testament/Bible and contains five chapters. The time line for these
events took place approximately around 588 BC. It was written by
Jeremiah to the Jews who were captive in Babylon and the purpose of
the book was to produce the repentance necessary for spiritual
restoration. What we are to learn from the book is that God is
faithful in both judgment and mercy. “It
is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his
compassions fail not. They
are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.”
- Lamentations 3:22,23.
Jeremiah was deeply grieved that the
holy city of Jerusalem had been destroyed, the once godly, prosperous
city is now a heap of ruins. All the Jews that tried their best to
live for God are now in captivity in Babylon, while Jeremiah is left
to ponder all that has happened.
“Judah
is gone into captivity because of affliction, and because of great
servitude: she dwelleth among the heathen, she findeth no rest: all
her persecutors overtook her between the straits...The adversary hath
spread out his hand upon all her pleasant things: for she hath seen
that the heathen entered into her sanctuary, whom thou didst command
that they should not enter into thy congregation. All
her people sigh, they seek bread; they have given their pleasant
things for meat to relieve the soul: see, O LORD, and consider; for I
am become vile. Is it nothing to you, all ye that pass by? behold,
and see if there be any sorrow like unto my sorrow, which is done
unto me, wherewith the LORD hath afflicted me in the day of his
fierce anger.”
-Lamentations 1:3,10-12.
Whatever we may have learned from
the sufferings of Jerusalem, do not compare to we can learn from the
sufferings of Christ. Does He not speak from the cross to every one
of us? Does He not say, “Is this nothing to you, all ye that pass
me by?” When we acknowledge our sorrows they lead us to the cross
of Christ, which is the only way to can find rest through the
burdened, afflicted soul. “For
godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of:
but the sorrow of the world worketh death. For behold this selfsame
thing, that ye sorrowed after a godly sort, what carefulness it
wrought in you, yea, what clearing of yourselves, yea, what
indignation, yea, what fear, yea, what vehement desire, yea, what
zeal, yea, what revenge! In all things ye have approved yourselves to
be clear in this matter.”
- II Corinthians 7:10,11.
Jeremiah witnessed the destruction
and is a type of Christ as he wept over the same city that Jesus wept
over six centuries later, "Wherefore,
behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some
of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall ye scourge
in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city: That upon
you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the
blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias,
whom ye slew between the temple and the altar. Verily I say unto you,
All these things shall come upon this generation. O Jerusalem,
Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are
sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children
together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and
ye would not!"
- Matthew 23:34-37.
Both tragedies and even the tragedies
that Israel and even the rest of the world face today are a result of
ignoring the Word of God. The truth is this, everything that is
written in God's Word will come to pass, no matter how many people
try to change it, destroy it, try to take it out of existence, or
ignore it. Jesus will return one day and when He does there will be
some weeping like you have never seen, people raising from the grave,
rising up to the clouds while watching loved ones they never knew get
cast into hell. I know it is hard to think about, but we need to be
aware of this. “For
the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the
voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in
Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be
caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the
air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.”
- I Thessalonians 4:16,17.
Our sole purpose for remaining
here on earth is to serve God by instructing others of the truth so
they will not have to face the consequences of hell. “And Jesus
came and spake unto them, saying, All
power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and
teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of
the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things
whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even
unto the end of the world. Amen.”
- Matthew 28:18-20.
Today's
Prayer:
Dear
God,
Lord, I will never fully understand the depth of Your
sacrificial death where You saved all of us from our sinful nature.
You gave all so that I could be forgiven and see You face to face one
day. Thank You, Lord for all that You did, there is absolutely
nothing that I could do to repay You except to praise You and teach
others about You. In fact, Your mercy tells me that all I have to do
is call on You and nothing else is needed. What a remarkable God that
You are to all of us, You deserve all the glory and praise. In Jesus'
name.....Amen.
God Bless You, I am praying for
you,
Christina
