of Today's Chapters:
Elihu continues his speech, God shows up and starts asking Job
questions.
Hello
My Friend/Guest,
“Now
concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you
ignorant...Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.
And
there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. And
there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which
worketh all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to
every man to profit withal. For to one is given by the Spirit the
word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;”
- I Corinthians 12:1,4-8.
As we grow and mature in our
Christianity we become wiser to the Word of God as He reveals His
mysteries to us. It is amazing how God only reveals a little bit at a
time for us so we learn to comprehend it all, not just parts of it,
and I think we will never truly learn everything God wants us to
know, but He truly knows what He is doing. Some of us comprehend
God's Word quicker than others, but that does not mean one is smarter
than another, it just means that we all are called to know certain
things of God, yet there are just some things none of us need to
know. We have to be careful though not to get to the point that we
think we know everything we need to know, no matter how many times
you read the Bible there is always more to know.
As Job sat
there while one friend after another condemned him, his only question
was, “Where is God and why doesn't He answer me?” Little did he
realize that God was listening, He was listening to all of them. As
Elihu was speaking a storm was brewing. “After
it a voice roareth: he thundereth with the voice of his excellency;
and he will not stay them when his voice is heard...Out of the south
cometh the whirlwind: and cold out of the north. By the breath of God
frost is given: and the breadth of the waters is straitened. Also by
watering he wearieth the thick cloud: he scattereth his bright
cloud:..Hearken unto this, O Job: stand still, and consider the
wondrous works of God.”
- Job 37:4,9-11,14.
The changes of the weather are the
subject of a great deal of our thoughts and common talk, but how
seldom do we think and speak of these things, as Elihu, with a regard
to God, the director of them all! We must notice the glory of God,
not only in the thunder and lightning, but in the more common and
less awful changes of the weather; as the snow and rain. Nature
directs all creatures to shelter themselves from a storm, how much
more would God shelter His people from the storms in their lives. Oh,
we may have to be in a storm, but we need not be afraid when Christ
is with us. “Then
they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he bringeth them out of
their distresses. He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves
thereof are still.”
- Psalm 107:28,29.
Suddenly Elihu was interrupted as out of
the whirlwind comes the voice of God, “Then
the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said, Who is this
that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge? Gird up now thy
loins like a man; for I will demand of thee, and answer thou me.
Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if
thou hast understanding. Who
hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath
stretched the line upon it? Whereupon are the foundations thereof
fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof; When the morning
stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?”
- Job 38:1-7.
God knew that Jobs friends played a part in
his discouragement, but first He has some questions for Job. To gird
up thy loins means to get ready for battle, God wants Job to be ready
for battle and wants a direct answer to His questions. Of course, God
knew that there was no way that Job could answer any of these
questions. It's ridiculous what all these scientists come up with to
try and figure out how God made the earth and everything in between.
God will never reveal such information because He knows they will
distort it even more than they already have. “Professing
themselves to be wise, they became fools, And
changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to
corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping
things. Wherefore
God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own
hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed
the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature
more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.”
- Romans 1:22-25.
We
can not possibly know everything that God has done or the reason why
He places certain circumstances in our lives at the time, we just
have to rely on our trust and faith in Him to get us through them.
God will reveal the reasons for our suffering when the time is right,
He does not want us to walk around in pity, He wants us to trust Him.
“As
for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a
buckler to all those that trust in him. For who is God save the LORD?
or who is a rock save our God? It is God that girdeth me with
strength, and maketh my way perfect.”
- Psalm 18:30-32.
The is always more to know about God, you
can be sure that Satan will twist the Scriptures to try to mislead
us, but that is just one more reason why we must read all of the
Bible for ourselves. It is great to have help, but we need to make
sure that who we are getting advice from lines up with the Word of
God. Counselors may have all the degrees and qualifications the world
can give, but unless their advice is in harmony with God's Word, it
is false and good for no one, except Satan. “Blessed
is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor
standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the
scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law
doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted
by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season;
his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall
prosper.”
- Psalm 1:1-3. Praise God!
God
Bless You, I am praying for you,
Christina
