Job
recalls the story of his life and reviews his present condition, He
insists that he is holding on to his integrity, and Elihu, the silent
friend, now speaks.
Hello
My Friend/Guest,
“Therefore
being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord
Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace
wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not
only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation
worketh patience; And
patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not
ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the
Holy Ghost which is given unto us...But God commendeth his love
toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Much
more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from
wrath through him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled
to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall
be saved by his life.”
- Romans 5:1-5, 8-10.
I imagine that we all have one regret in
life, wishing that if we could do it all over again this is what we
would do. Truthfully, it is through our tribulations that we have a
better future. There are some things that I have gone through that if
I had not I would not be the person I am today. You see, even when
God decides to reveal Himself to us we must go through tribulation,
we can not get saved until we admit we are sinners and ask Jesus
Christ to save us, which for most of us only comes from tribulation.
While we can not go back to the past and change it, we can use the
past to change our future as we allow the Holy Spirit to guide us.
Job was just about out of words, there was not one thing he
could say that would convince his friends that he was not hiding some
wicked sin that caused all the tribulation he was facing. He began to
recall his past, he did not boast, but did express that he was good,
upright, and good to others.
“Oh
that I were as in months past, as in the days when God preserved me;
When
his candle shined upon my head, and when by his light I walked
through darkness; As I was in the days of my youth, when the secret
of God was upon my tabernacle;.. When the ear heard me, then it
blessed me; and when the eye saw me, it gave witness to me: Because I
delivered the poor that cried, and the fatherless, and him that had
none to help him. The blessing of him that was ready to perish came
upon me: and I caused the widow's heart to sing for joy.”
- Job 29:2-4,11-13.
When Christians allow the Holy Spirit to
guide them they not only become moral and find God's favor, they pass
that goodness onto others, blessing not only the receiver, but the
giver as well. While it brings more joy to the soul to be the giver,
it doesn't stop the soul from finding more joy as it learns that it
is blessed more by giving first. “And
Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that
hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or
wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's, But
he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and
brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with
persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.”
- Mark 10:29,30.
We should not be cast down if we are
despised, reviled, and hated by wicked men. We should look to Jesus,
who endured the contradiction of sinners and has given eternal life
to all who ask Him for it. Job contrasts his present condition with
his former honor and authority, he defends himself of their charge of
hypocrisy. While it is best to let our actions speak for us, in some
cases we owe it to ourselves and to the cause of God to solemnly
protest our innocence of the crimes of which we are falsely accused.
“Doth
not he see my ways, and count all my steps? If I have walked with
vanity, or if my foot hath hasted to deceit; Let me be weighed in an
even balance, that God may know mine integrity...Oh that one would
hear me! behold, my desire is, that the Almighty would answer me, and
that mine adversary had written a book. Surely I would take it upon
my shoulder, and bind it as a crown to me.”
- Job 31:4-6,35,36.
God sees and hears everything, even what
we are thinking, He knows when we are good or bad, knows our fears,
and even knows when we need Him, the key, is asking. Through the
whole book, not one time do we hear that Job prayed to God, praying
is asking, it is the only way to get God to communicate with us. God
does not want to see us suffering, but unless we ask Him for help, we
will just continue to suffer. “Now
unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we
ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,”
- Ephesians 3:20.
So, why can't we receive God's blessings
even if we are letting the Holy Spirit guide us? Something is
hindering us, and it is most likely something we are trying to
accomplish alone by ourselves or out of the will of God. “Ye
lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain:
ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. Ye
ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it
upon your lusts... But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God
resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. Submit
yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from
you. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your
hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. Be
afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to
mourning, and your joy to heaviness. Humble yourselves in the sight
of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.”
- James 4:2,3,6-10.
Everything we are today all comes from
the grace of God as He blesses those through His power to guide them
in the way that they shall go. It is only when we humble ourselves
before God that He will show His presence, well, He will show His
presence upon His wrath, but I would rather get God's attention by
obedience than disobedience. Although we face all sorts of affliction
it is exactly that affliction we need in order to get out of the
past, use it as a guide never to go back there, and be a testimony of
the mighty grace of God. “Who
shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or
distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or
sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long;
we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things
we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For
I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor
principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to
separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
- Romans 8:35-39. Praise God!
God
Bless You, I am praying for you,
Christina
