“Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?..And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me...Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels...And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.” - Matthew 25:34-37,40,41,46.

What is the difference between a Christian and an average Joe these days? Both can live right and help others, both can live wickedly and rebelliously too. So what is the difference? Jesus Christ, eternal life, and the kingdom of God! A soul that has Jesus Christ in it leaves it's flesh body, goes up to heaven and receives their inheritance in the Kingdom of God. A soul that does not have Jesus Christ gets cast into hell and receives eternal damnation. Now, do not be mistaken, just because a soul gets to go to heaven that does not mean it can do everything it wants, get away with it and go to heaven. Any person who accepted Christ and continues to live a wicked life will suffer tremendously here on earth until they truly repent.

This is nothing knew, Job even knew this and he did not have the Bible that we have today to tell him that there was no life without the Spirit of God in it after the flesh dies. A question comes to Job's mind as he sat there listening to his friends mock and belittle him. Why do the wicked prosper?

“Wherefore do the wicked live, become old, yea, are mighty in power? Their seed is established in their sight with them, and their offspring before their eyes. Their houses are safe from fear, neither is the rod of God upon them...They spend their days in wealth, and in a moment go down to the grave. Therefore they say unto God, Depart from us; for we desire not the knowledge of thy ways. What is the Almighty, that we should serve him? and what profit should we have, if we pray unto him? Lo, their good is not in their hand: the counsel of the wicked is far from me.” - Job 21:7-9,13-16.

I think every one of us ask the same question once in a while, it seems as though the closer you get to God the harsher the punishment you receive and those who just want nothing to do with God get everything they want with no punishment. While it may seem that way it really is not the case, God may use a wicked person to His advantage, but Satan is the one blinding them through their prosperity. God kind of takes care of us as an employer would. Have you ever noticed that the employer is harder on those who are the backbone of the company rather than the ones who really do not do anything? They know what you can handle and know that you are capable of do all they ask, but they will keep that fear in you to keep you doing your job right. Likewise, God knows what you can handle, “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.” - I Corinthians 10:13.

Eliphaz responds, bringing heavy charges against Job, without reason for his accusations, except that Job was visited as he supposed God always visited every wicked man. He charges him with oppression, and that he did harm to himself with his wealth and power in the time of his prosperity.

“Is it any pleasure to the Almighty, that thou art righteous? or is it gain to him, that thou makest thy ways perfect? Will he reprove thee for fear of thee? will he enter with thee into judgment? Is not thy wickedness great? and thine iniquities infinite? For thou hast taken a pledge from thy brother for nought, and stripped the naked of their clothing. Thou hast not given water to the weary to drink, and thou hast withholden bread from the hungry. But as for the mighty man, he had the earth; and the honourable man dwelt in it.” - Job 22:3-8.

What Eliphaz says, is unjustly applied to Job, but it is very true, when God does us good it is not because He is indebted to us. God is a Sovereign, who gives no account of His conduct, but He is perfectly wise, just, faithful, good, and merciful. He approves the likeness of His own holiness, and delights in the fruits of His Spirit, He accepts the thankful services of the humble believer, while He rejects the proud claim of the self-confident. “For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building...Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.” - I Corinthians 3:9,13.

Job responds, he is confident that his friends are judging him falsely and as ill as he is, he will not give up the cause nor let them have the last word. He knows that in the he will be justified by God Himself. Job knew that the God was every where, but in his mind there was so much confusion that he could not see Him. Yet Job expressed his assurance that he should be brought forth, tried, and approved, for he had obeyed the precepts of God.

“Behold, I go forward, but he is not there; and backward, but I cannot perceive him: On the left hand, where he doth work, but I cannot behold him: he hideth himself on the right hand, that I cannot see him: But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold. My foot hath held his steps, his way have I kept, and not declined. Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.” - Job 23:8-12.

Sometimes it does seem like God stands at a distance and that He is no where to be found, but if Christ is in you, God is in you, He lives inside of you and all you have to do to see Him is just talk to Him. I will tell you that quite often I will get into such a routine that even though I serve God it's like I am a robot and He will start afflicting me. When I get to that point I realize my error and just start having a normal conversation with God, of course, it does not take long before the tears come and I feel like I have let God down. He then lifts me up and my thoughts instantly turn from mush to what can I do today. He will do the same for all who just talk to Him. “For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.” - Philippians 3:20,21. Praise God!
