Today's
Message: Heavenly Treasures
As
Christians we can get pretty discouraged at times when we do
everything we can to live a godly life and face one struggle after
another while those who continue to live wickedly prosper. It's not
always easy to lead a Christian life, there are all kinds of
temptations around us, but in the long run it will all be worth it
because our treasures will be far more glorious when we get to
heaven. “Lay
not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth
corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for
yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth
corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where
your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”
- Matthew 6:19-21. We can not take money or possessions with us when
we die. While the world strives on getting the biggest and best
before they die, Christians strive on the promises of God and knowing
that the biggest and best is yet to come. As Christians, we can
prosper, if we keep our eyes on Jesus we already have more than the
richest, most powerful person here on earth.
As Job was once
again defending himself the question came out, why are the wicked
mighty in power? “Wherefore
do the wicked live, become old, yea, are mighty in power? Their seed
is established in their sight with them, and their offspring before
their eyes. Their houses are safe from fear, neither is the rod of
God upon them....They spend their days in wealth, and in a moment go
down to the grave. Therefore they say unto God, Depart from us; for
we desire not the knowledge of thy ways. What is the Almighty, that
we should serve him? and what profit should we have, if we pray unto
him? Lo, their good is not in their hand: the counsel of the wicked
is far from me.”
- Job 21:7-9,13-16. Usually the most powerful people in the world
care less about God, they feel as though they have everything they
need so they do not need Him. When they die they die and that is it.
However, God is still in control, He makes use of the prosperity of
the wicked to serve His own purpose, while it ripens them for ruin.
They might prosper for a season, but in the end they will fall.
The
key to Job's singleness of heart and ultimate victory was his
conviction that obedience to God's Word was more important than life
itself. “Behold,
I go forward, but he is not there; and backward, but I cannot
perceive him: On the left hand, where he doth work, but I cannot
behold him: he hideth himself on the right hand, that I cannot see
him: But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I
shall come forth as gold. My foot hath held his steps, his way have I
kept, and not declined. Neither have I gone back from the commandment
of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my
necessary food.”
- Job 23:8-12. Job had the utmost confidence in the wisdom and love
of God. Job believed that, since God was faithful to His Word, He
also would be faithful to His obedient servant. He believed that
although God seemed nowhere to be found, his faith did not rest in
his fears and feelings, but in His Word. In every generation there
are faithful Christians who have learned that only by reading all of
the Word of God can they know His will in order to walk in His ways.
They have the utmost confidence that His Word is their source of true
strength and the answer to all critics.
Some have assumed
they were a Christian because they were a member of a church, but
they have not experienced the transforming power of God's Word. Like
Judas, they may talk like a Christian and yet they do not desire
Christ as Lord of their lives. To have a Bible, but no desire to know
how God would have them live is useless. Until they repent of their
sins and accept Christ as both Savior and Lord, the Bible has little
value to them, therefore they feel no need for it. “As
ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:
Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have
been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving. Beware lest any man
spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of
men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.”
- Colossians 2:6-8. Take a look at all these famous preachers and
evangelists, they claim to know God. Do they tell you the truth or
are they just sugar coating the egos of those who want their version
of the truth to remain prosperous? The only way to know the truth is
by knowing God's Word.
All who have accepted Christ as their
Savior are precious to God, we are His special people because we have
accepted His treasure. “But
ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a
peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who
hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light; Which in
time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had
not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.”
- I Peter 2:9,10. Since we are God's people we have nothing to worry
about, He will provide for us, protect us, and more importantly we
will walk the streets of gold to find our mansion waiting for us.
“Let
not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In
my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have
told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a
place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that
where I am, there ye may be also.”
-John 14:1-3. Praise God!
Enjoy the rest of your day/night and
have an awesome week.
God Bless You, I am praying for
you,
Christina
