Study: Heirs With God
It
is amazing to think that with all the crazy things going on in the
world today that God is still in control of it all. People whine and
complain and even blame God, wondering why He allows so much pain and
suffering in the world, but they fail to realize that He is not the
one causing the problem, we are. How can God make a change when even
we as Christians do not want to do anything in the will of God? He is
going to continue to allow pain and suffering until we all realize
that God is in control, and no matter how many people try to pretend
that they do not need God or are in control nothing will change that.
The Israelites were now receiving their inheritance, the land
of Canaan was divided up precisely by the amount of people in each
tribe, nine and one half of the tribes received a part of the land.
Some did do as God commanded and removed all the inhabitants there
before moving in, but others allowed them to dwell with them. “And
these are the countries which the children of Israel inherited in the
land of Canaan, which Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun,
and the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel,
distributed for inheritance to them. By lot was their inheritance, as
the LORD commanded by the hand of Moses, for the nine tribes, and for
the half tribe. For Moses had given the inheritance of two tribes and
an half tribe on the other side Jordan: but unto the Levites he gave
none inheritance among them.”
- Joshua 14:1-3. There were three people remaining out of the first
generation of Israelites that were able to enter the promised land,
Joshua, Eleazar, the priest, and Caleb. Before receiving their
inheritance, at the age of eighty-five, Caleb, who was of the tribe
of Judah, went before Joshua and requested a certain part of the
land. “Then
the children of Judah came unto Joshua in Gilgal: and Caleb the son
of Jephunneh the Kenezite said unto him, Thou knowest the thing that
the LORD said unto Moses the man of God concerning me and thee in
Kadeshbarnea. Forty years old was I when Moses the servant of the
LORD sent me from Kadeshbarnea to espy out the land; and I brought
him word again as it was in mine heart. Nevertheless my brethren that
went up with me made the heart of the people melt: but I wholly
followed the LORD my God. And Moses sware on that day, saying, Surely
the land whereon thy feet have trodden shall be thine inheritance,
and thy children's for ever, because thou hast wholly followed the
LORD my God. And now, behold, the LORD hath kept me alive, as he
said, these forty and five years, even since the LORD spake this word
unto Moses, while the children of Israel wandered in the wilderness:
and now, lo, I am this day fourscore and five years old.”
- Joshua 14:6-10. God allowed the request and gave Caleb the land he
asked for because of his faith in God, it took him forty-five years
to be able to receive his inheritance, but he never gave up on the
promise that God made.
It may seem insignificant to read of
the division of the land and where exactly each tribe dwells, but it
is very important. This is the land that God had given His chosen
people to dwell in and still today they dwell there, even some of us
today come from one of those tribes. Yet nations are turning their
backs on it and trying to divide the nation and take it away from
them. The day we turn our backs on Israel is the day God places
judgment upon any nation who tries to take the promised land from His
people. Think about all that is going on in America right now, they
have cut support to Israel and are even trying to get them to divide
the nation. And we wonder why the economy is getting worse and why
there is so many natural disasters and wars going on in the world?
God is in control and until we get that in our heads He is going to
keep allowing people to suffer. “The
Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the
children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and
joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we
may be also glorified together. For I reckon that the sufferings of
this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which
shall be revealed in us.”
- Romans 8:16-18.
As Christians, we inherit a part of the
Kingdom of God by our faith in Jesus Christ. The word inherit means
that we receive or possess something as an heir to a family member.
In other words, the day we accept Jesus Christ into our hearts and
ask Him to save us from hell we become an heir, a family member of
God, and will receive our inheritance in the Kingdom of God. “Now
the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery,
fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft,
hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the
which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that
they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. But
the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering,
gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there
is no law. And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with
the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk
in the Spirit.”
- Galatians 5:19-25. Praise God that we are heirs of God and no
matter what suffering and judgment is placed upon the world, we know
where we are going, to our mansion in the Kingdom of God. Praise
God!
Enjoy the rest of your day/night and week.
God
Bless You, I am praying for you,
Christina
