Today's Message: Jesus Saves Everyone
Christ came to save His people, not in their sins, but from their sins to redeem them from man. He does not pick and choose who He saves, He Saves all who will believe in Him.

The book of Matthew is the first book of the New Testament, the fortieth book of the Bible and contains twenty-eight chapters. The author of the book is Matthew and it was written to
all believers, although it was the first directed to the Jews to whom Jesus was presented as the Messiah, the Son of David. The purpose of the book was to present the ministry of Jesus, stressing His role as King of the Jews. What we are to learn from the book is to follow the final command of Jesus to His followers and that is to teach all nations the Gospel. Matthew, a Levi, was a publican, or tax-gatherer under the Romans at Capernaum, before his conversion. The contents of this Gospel, and the evidence of ancient writers, show that it was written primarily for the use of the Jewish nation. He particularly selected such parts of our Savior's history and addresses issues that were best suited to awaken the Jewish nation to a sense of their sins, to remove their expectations of an earthly kingdom, to abate their pride and self-conceit, to teach them the spiritual nature and extent of the gospel, and to prepare them for the admission of the Gentiles into the church. Matthew is an example of how God can convert the biggest sinner and make him a disciple of Christ.

The book of Matthew opens with the genealogy of Christ, sometimes we read the Bible and wonder why we have to read all the names, but every word in the Bible has a purpose. Many do not realize that the Bible was like a family history book, full of records and events that took place over the centuries as a way to learn of their heritage. The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham. Abraham begat Isaac; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat Judas and his brethren; And Judas begat Phares and Zara of Thamar; and Phares begat Esrom; and Esrom begat Aram; And Aram begat Aminadab; and Aminadab begat Naasson; and Naasson begat Salmon; And Salmon begat Booz of Rachab; and Booz begat Obed of Ruth; and Obed begat Jesse; And Jesse begat David the king; and David the king begat Solomon of her that had been the wife of Urias;......And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ. So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations.” - Matthew 1:1-6,16,17. The genealogy of our Savior, proves that our Lord Jesus is of the nation and family out of which the Messiah was to arise. It was promised to Abraham that Christ would descend from him and also to David, unless we know Jesus is a son of David, and a son of Abraham, than He would not have been the Messiah. Now, that we have learned where He came from it is proof that He is the Messiah.

Mary of Nazareth was engaged to Joseph, also of Nazareth, The Jewish custom was that a betrothal lasted for one year. There was no physical consummation until after the actual wedding. However, the betrothal was as legally binding as marriage and required a legal divorce to dissolve it. When Joseph learned Mary was pregnant, he considered divorcing her, but the angel of the Lord encouraged him to stay with her. “Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privily. But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.” - Matthew 1:18-21. Joseph is told that Mary should bring forth the Savior of the world. He was to call his name Jesus, and the reason of that name is clear, for those whom Christ saves, he saves from their sins. Joseph did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, speedily, without delay, and cheerfully, without dispute. Both Mary and Joseph were descendants of David. However, if Joseph had been the biological father of Jesus, he would have passed on to Him the sin nature of Adam. This would have made Jesus a sinner by nature and unable to die as the sinless substitute for our sins.

By applying the general rules of the Written Word, we should in all the steps of our lives, particularly the great turns of them, take direction from God, and we shall find this safe and comfortable. When the Son of God was pleased to take our nature, he came near to us, in our fallen, wretched condition, but he was perfectly free from sin and while we read the names in His genealogy, we should not forget how Jesus lived, died, and arose to save the human race. We are all blessed to know Jesus, He could have made Himself king when He was here, but He chose to be a servant just like the rest of us and endured much more pain than we will ever suffer with. It is important to realize that Jesus just does not save those whom are wealthy or popular, He saves all! In fact the wealthy and popular are the ones whom rarely come to Jesus. However, take a person that has been down on his luck, poor, and no where to go and He is more likely to accept Him and have His life changed for the better. Just because we have accepted Christ into our lives that does not mean that we can not be wealthy, it just means that we do all for God. God gives us what we can handle and if we can handle receiving lots of money without falling away from Him than He will bless us with it or with anything we need.

Have a wonderful and blessed day/night and enjoy the rest of your week.
God Bless You,
Christina
