Today's
Message: Just
Enough
When Jesus
returns, we need to be found becoming more like Him and not trying to
do just enough to get inside the gate.
Through
Zechariah God foretells of the peaceful and prosperous future of His
people, “Thus
saith the LORD of hosts; I was jealous for Zion with great jealousy,
and I was jealous for her with great fury. Thus
saith the LORD; I am returned unto Zion, and will dwell in the midst
of Jerusalem: and Jerusalem shall be called a city of truth; and the
mountain of the LORD of hosts the holy mountain. Thus saith the LORD
of hosts; There shall yet old men and old women dwell in the streets
of Jerusalem, and every man with his staff in his hand for very age.
And the streets of the city shall be full of boys and girls playing
in the streets thereof. Thus saith the LORD of hosts; If it be
marvellous in the eyes of the remnant of this people in these days,
should it also be marvellous in mine eyes? saith the LORD of hosts.
Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Behold, I will save my people from the
east country, and from the west country; And I will bring them, and
they shall dwell in the midst of Jerusalem: and they shall be my
people, and I will be their God, in truth and in righteousness.”
- Zechariah 8:2-8. The sins of Zion were Jerusalem's worst enemies,
but God is going to take away her sins and bring all the scattered
Israelite's together from all over the world. God says, He will never
leave nor forsake them and they shall never leave nor forsake Him and
shall live peacefully and prosperously. God will never leave nor
forsake us either, it may seem at times that He is not there, but He
is always watching over His people and transforming them little by
little.
The hardest part about being faithful to God is
patience, we anticipate things to happen quickly, however, God hardly
ever makes things happen that fast. Although his prophetic message
was fulfilled centuries later, in great anticipation, Zechariah
foretold of the coming of Christ. “Rejoice
greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold,
thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly,
and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.”
- Zechariah 9:9. Five hundred and fifty years passed when this
prophecy was fulfilled
as Jesus entered Jerusalem during the last week before His
crucifixion. “Tell
ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and
sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass.”
- Matthew 21:5. This was His formal presentation
as King to His loyal supporters and the common people. Today, we have
the anticipation of waiting on His return, until that time comes we
need to be prepared because He is coing to come when we least expect
it. It is important that we follow Jesus command to go out into the
world and tell all nations, it's the only way God is going to gather
all His people together so that we may all one day live in peace and
prosperity for eternity, just as God promises.
Zechariah also
foretold the details concerning Judas, Jesus' betrayer, and his
transactions with the religious leaders, “And
I said unto them, If ye think good, give me my price; and if not,
forbear. So they weighed for my price thirty pieces of silver. And
the LORD said unto me, Cast it unto the potter: a goodly price that I
was prised at of them. And I took the thirty pieces of silver, and
cast them to the potter in the house of the LORD...........For, lo, I
will raise up a shepherd in the land, which shall not visit those
that be cut off, neither shall seek the young one, nor heal that that
is broken, nor feed that that standeth still: but he shall eat the
flesh of the fat, and tear their claws in pieces. Woe to the idol
shepherd that leaveth the flock! the sword shall be upon his arm, and
upon his right eye: his arm shall be clean dried up, and his right
eye shall be utterly darkened.” - Zechariah 11:12,13,15,16.
Jesus, the true King of kings, was rejected and betrayed for a mere
30
pieces of silver just as prophesied, the price of
a mere slave. “Then one of the twelve, called
Judas Iscariot, went unto the chief priests, And said unto them, What
will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they covenanted
with him for thirty pieces of silver. And from that time he sought
opportunity to betray him.” - Matthew 26:14-16. Religion is
the biggest fall of Christ and will be the key to the worlds
destruction, it is full of deceit and betrayal. We truly need to
examine where we choose to worship, it can literally be a matter of
life and death for all of us.
You and I have the wonderful
privilege of living after the fulfillment of our Lord's earthly
ministry and in the expectation of His soon return to be King
over all the earth. “And
it shall come to pass in that day, that the light shall not be clear,
nor dark: But it shall be
one day which shall be known to the LORD, not day, nor night: but it
shall come to pass, that at evening time it shall be light. And it
shall be in that day, that living waters shall go out from Jerusalem;
half of them toward the former sea, and half of them toward the
hinder sea: in summer and in winter shall it be. And the LORD shall
be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one LORD, and
his name one.” - Zechariah 14:6-9. All who have repented of
their sins, confessed Christ as their Savior, and made Him Lord of
their lives will then reign with Him. It is wonderful to know the
forgiveness of sins and have the assurance of soon being with the
King of Kings face to face.
Do not make the mistake of
thinking that one has to work to keep their salvation, that is
completely false. Once saved, always saved, but that does not mean we
should continue to live in sin knowing this truth. We are saved by
Jesus' blood, He died for us, the least we can do is ask for His help
in learning to live righteously. We can make the choice to do just
enough to reach heaven or we can make the choice to follow His Will
so we can reap the many wonderful blessings waiting for us.
Have
a wonderful and blessed day/night and enjoy the rest of your week.
God
Bless You,
Christina
