Hello My Friend/Guest,

Today is Sunday January 17, 2010 and we are reading through the Bible in a year. Today's message comes from the reading of the Book of Genesis chapters 49-50. As Christian's grow in their walk with Jesus they tend to learn just how important it is to follow God's Will and not their own. You know, there are two ways to know what God's Will is for our lives. The first one is easy, this is the revealed Will of God, what this means is that as we read Scripture it will reveal to us some of the things that God wants us to do, such as how to get saved, baptized, and tell others about Jesus. Yes, all of these things are doing the Will of God. Now, the second way to know God's Will is a little harder, this is what is known as the secret Will of God, these are things that only the Holy Spirit can reveal to you as you grow as a Christian, things such as becoming an evangelist, a preacher, a teacher, or even driving a bus that takes people to church, all these things come from God speaking to us personally. The only way to learn what God wants you to do for Him as an individual is by having a relationship with Jesus. The more we learn about Jesus, even what was foretold to us in the Old Testament, the closer we get to Him and knowing His secret Will for our lives.

Today, we truly have no idea how blessed we are to learn what God has called us to do. Before Jesus, it was a lot harder to understand the Will of God, the Holy Spirit never talked to each individual that would follow God, only priests and prophets were fortunate enough to have Him speak them, so they had to go by pure faith in order to know God's Will. An example of this is with Abraham, when he was told to leave his family, he had no idea where he was going, but his faith in God allowed Him to lead him to the promised land. Now, Jacob is near death and ready to bless his twelve sons, he foretold the amazing prophetic future of each tribe. “
And Jacob called unto his sons, and said, Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you that which shall befall you in the last days. Gather yourselves together, and hear, ye sons of Jacob; and hearken unto Israel your father. Reuben, thou art my firstborn, my might, and the beginning of my strength, the excellency of dignity, and the excellency of power: Unstable as water, thou shalt not excel; because thou wentest up to thy father's bed; then defiledst thou it: he went up to my couch. Simeon and Levi are brethren; instruments of cruelty are in their habitations. O my soul, come not thou into their secret; unto their assembly, mine honour, be not thou united: for in their anger they slew a man, and in their selfwill they digged down a wall.” - Genesis 49:1-6. His first three sons had the rights of the Abrahamic covenant forfeited to them because of their wicked behavior. That left Judah to be the next heir in line to receive the blessing and the reason why he was to become the heritage that would lead to the birth of Christ. “Judah, thou art he whom thy brethren shall praise: thy hand shall be in the neck of thine enemies; thy father's children shall bow down before thee. Judah is a lion's whelp: from the prey, my son, thou art gone up: he stooped down, he couched as a lion, and as an old lion; who shall rouse him up? The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.” - Genesis 49:8-10. What Jacob is saying here is that the tribe of Judah, would become the powerful leader of Israel and one who was feared by his enemies as a lion. They would, also have authority over the other tribes until Shiloh (peacemaker) comes, who is none other than Jesus.

God has used some of the most interesting people to represent Him, it truly is amazing to learn of who he chooses, but that goes to show you that God uses imperfect, sinners, just like you and me to teach His truths and show the world that He truly is alive and has a plan for each and every person who believes in Him. The great thing about God is that even though we mess up He does not fire us like an employer would do. He knows our flesh, but He also knows our heart and that we can be of use to Him somewhere to set an example for others to follow. “
And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief. Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting. Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.” I Timothy 1:14-17. Praise God that we too have obtained mercy, are saved, and have Jesus on our side.

Enjoy the rest of your day/night and week.
God Bless You, I am praying for you,
Christina
