Today's Message: Mistaken by Emotions
How easy it is to be mistaken when we follow emotions rather than the truth revealed in God's Word.

Jesus knew the Word and could teach it at the level where people understood it. As the Word was made known, the honor given to Jesus and His name was magnified greatly. And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about. And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all. And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read. And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written, The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.” - Luke 4:14-20. The book of Esaias is the book of Isaiah, they brough Jesus the scroll and Jesus opened it up and started to read it. Each of these items that is spoken of here deals with the salvation that Jesus brought in His first advent, living His life and preaching the gospel. Then when Jesus gets so far in the reading, He shuts the scroll and sits down.

Can you imagine the look on the people face? What an amazing thought to have Jesus preaching in our very own church. Yet instead of joy they were complaining. “
And all bare him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth. And they said, Is not this Joseph's son? And he said unto them, Ye will surely say unto me this proverb, Physician, heal thyself: whatsoever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in thy country. And he said, Verily I say unto you, No prophet is accepted in his own country. But I tell you of a truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elias, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land; But unto none of them was Elias sent, save unto Sarepta, a city of Sidon, unto a woman that was a widow. And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Eliseus the prophet; and none of them was cleansed, saving Naaman the Syrian. And all they in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath, And rose up, and thrust him out of the city, and led him unto the brow of the hill whereon their city was built, that they might cast him down headlong.” - Luke 4:22-29. They marveled at His gracious words, but knew He clearly referred to Himself as the Messiah who had been foretold by Isaiah and other prophets beginning with Genesis 3:15. You can imagine how startled they were when Jesus said that He whom they assumed to be the son of Joseph was really their long-awaited Messiah. Instead, the congregation listening to Jesus was so infuriated at His equating Himself with God that they disrupted the worship service, seized Jesus, and attempted to put Him to death for blasphemy by pushing Him over a rocky cliff.

Many churches today do the same thing to Jesus, they refuse to hear the truth and literally try to push Him off a cliff. They would rather have some one verse reverend stroke them with his lies and fairy-tales than hear the truth from God's Word. You know who is teaching the Word chapter by chapter and verse by verse. If your in a good church, than support your pastor and value his teaching. If the Pastor is lead by the Spirit of God, and teaches as it was written, you will know it when you ask God for His wisdom. Jesus' family's church was going to kill him after He had just read these great Scriptures. Jesus gave His friends some of the best lessons in the Bible, and in return they accepted it as trash. We have got to pay attention to what these so called men of God are preaching, they must line up with the Word of God, otherwise it will be a sad day for many when they expect to see heaven and find out they did not know the truth the hard way. “For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist. Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward. Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.” - II John 1:7-11.

Today's Prayer:
Dear God,
Lord,
as we examine the emotional pain of our lives, when it seems as though You’ve forgotten about us, we often start out with the question of “Why?” In hindsight we realize that those struggles taught us practical truths that we could not learn overnight, but over time, and that there truly was purpose in our pain and in Your timing. Help us to model integrity and steadfastness in the midst of the severe struggles and sweeping storms of life. Your eternal purpose is greater than our temporal pain. Remind us that it may not just be for our own instruction, but for others looking on who may learn from our difficult experiences. In Jesus' Name..........Amen.

Have a wonderful and blessed day/night
God Bless You,
Christina
