Psalm
90 begins the Psalms centered around the restless and wandering
(which describes the
believer's position in the
present
world), it's focus is the
earth and the blessing needed, anticipated, and enjoyed.
Today's
Message: Our Deliverer
God knows
how to take care of us every moment of every day, when we seek Him
for refuge He will deliver us our of all our troubles.
There
are times in our lives where we simply struggle to get through life's
circumstances, we are faithful to God, church, and serving Him, we
press on in hopes that God will see us through, yet it just seems
like nothing we do makes a difference. Psalm 89 is a reflection of
how one feels at times like these. “O lord
God of my salvation, I have cried day and night before thee: Let my
prayer come before thee: incline thine ear unto my cry; For my soul
is full of troubles: and my life draweth nigh unto the grave. I am
counted with them that go down into the pit: I am as a man that hath
no strength: Free among the dead, like the slain that lie in the
grave, whom thou rememberest no more: and they are cut off from thy
hand. Thou hast laid me in the lowest pit, in darkness, in the deeps.
Thy wrath lieth hard upon me, and thou hast afflicted me with all thy
waves. Selah.” - Psalm 89:1-7. This is exactly how Satan
wants us to feel, he believes that if we get to this point, sadly
many do, we will curse God and leave Him. I knock doors on Thursday
nights with my church spreading the Gospel to those who will listen,
it saddens me when people say they quit going to church because they
had a bad experience there or God did not do something for them. The
truth is that these people had a hardened heart toward God in the
first place, when one is not right with God they will fill convicted,
ashamed, and eventually lose faith because they have trusted their
own reason rather than God's. When we are truly right with God, He
will send us to the right church, correct us and we will not get
offended, and show us love even through the darkest times in our
lives.
Sitting there crying and depressed, and popping pills,
booze, or whatever it is that people use to mask the problems in
their lives does nothing, but create more problems. Trust me, I know,
although I can praise God that I never was a drinker, smoker, or a
pill popper, I did use other things to try to mask the pain I was
going through and I am still suffering the consequences for them.
However, God has forgiven me and I can honestly say, “I
will sing of the mercies of the LORD for ever: with my mouth will I
make known thy faithfulness to all generations.…........Blessed is
the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, O LORD, in
the light of thy countenance. In thy name shall they rejoice all the
day: and in thy righteousness shall they be exalted. For thou art the
glory of their strength: and in thy favour our horn shall be exalted.
For the LORD is our defence; and the Holy One of Israel is our king.”
- Psalm 89:1,15-18. I might have my off days, like everyone else, but
my strength comes from the Lord and I will praise Him and glorify Him
no matter how long it takes because I rather put my trust in God to
get me through my pain rather than anything the world has to offer
me.
Life is filled with both spiritual and physical dangers,
but God is our refuge and support, “He that
dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the
shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and
my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. Surely he shall deliver
thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou
trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.” - Psalm
91:1-4. When we seek refuge with God, He will take us under His wing,
protect us, and see us through all the dangers. Then God will say,
“Because he hath set his love upon me,
therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath
known my name. He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will
be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. With long
life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.” - Psalm
91:14-16.
Today's Prayer:
Dear God,
It
is in bitterness, revenge and self-pity that we become useless to
others and toxic to ourselves. But through expressions of forgiveness
and love we are granted inner strength and power beyond ourselves to
move forward, and it is there that we find healing and restoration
for our wounded souls. May we not live in the past or turn to
our own destructive vices, but find deliverance and victory through
the enduring work of the Holy Spirit that brings comfort, conviction,
and cleansing. We can rejoice knowing that our Salvation comes
from the Lord, Jesus Christ and that we can do all things through Him
who strengthens us. In Jesus' Name..........Amen.
Have a
wonderful, healthy, and blessed day/night and enjoy your weekend.
God Bless,
Christina
