Today's
Message:
Power of Your Strength
No matter how much physical strength and endurance we have it will
never prepare us for Satan's power on our flesh. The one and only
power of your strength comes through Jesus Christ.
The book
of I Timothy is the 15th
book of the New Testament, the 54th
book of the Bible and contains 6 chapters. The author of the book is
Paul and it was written to Timothy, his son through faith. The
purpose of the letter was to address some of the problems and needs
which existed in the church at Ephesus, which he was ministering to.
What we are to learn from the book is that we should live our lives
as an example of the ministry to which we have been called.
In
order for an athlete to develop better physical strength and
endurance he must discipline his body with the necessary nutrients,
exercise, and proper techniques if he wants to succeed. He is urged
to devote time daily or he will not become disciplined. Just as
athletes need discipline if they want to succeed, Christian's need
discipline also if they want to succeed. This letter written by Paul
urges Timothy to serve God wholeheartedly and with discipline. “Now
the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a
good conscience, and of faith unfeigned: From
which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling;
Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they
say, nor whereof they affirm. But we know that the law is good, if a
man use it lawfully; Knowing this, that the law is not made for a
righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly
and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and
murderers of mothers, for manslayers, For whoremongers, for them that
defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for
perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to
sound doctrine; According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God,
which was committed to my trust.”
- I Timothy 1:5-11. Daily study of and meditation on the Scriptures
must be directed with one desire, to conform our lives to the
instructions of the Word of God. There are going to be many false
teachers trying to tell you that they have the right doctrine, that
they know the truth, even that what you have been taught is lies.
Christian's have drifted away from the godly principles of
the Bible, creating their own while trying to discredit the truth.
However, the only way to know the truth is the the Holy Spirit and
the only way to know the Holy Spirit is by accepting Jesus Christ
into your life. He is the Gospel and by accepting Him He will give
you understanding as to what the truth is. “Now
the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall
depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines
of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared
with a hot iron; Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from
meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of
them which believe and know the truth. For every creature of God is
good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with
thanksgiving:..........But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and
exercise thyself rather unto godliness. For bodily exercise profiteth
little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise
of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.”
- I Timothy 4:1-4,7,8. When we accept Jesus into our lives the Holy
Spirit works in us and grows us as we are drawn away from the world
and into a personal fellowship with Him. We have the choice of either
disciplining ourselves to submit to His will or remaining spiritually
powerless and vulnerable to Satan's deceptions. The only way we can
prepare ourselves and be able to fight Satan is by knowing the truth
that only comes from reading God's Word. We do have the power to
overcome every obstacle we face and that power only comes from Jesus
Christ. He alone is our strength, power, and endurance to discipline
and a right relationship with God. “I
can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”
- Philippians 4:13.
Have
a wonderful and blessed day/night and Merry Christmas
God
Bless You,
Christina
