the coming restoration, and the exposure and folly of idolatry.
Hello
My Friend/Guest,
“There
cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give
me to drink...Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it
that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of
Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans. Jesus
answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who
it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked
of him, and he would have given thee living water. The
woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the
well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?..Jesus
answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall
thirst again: But
whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never
thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of
water springing up into everlasting life. The woman saith unto him,
Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to
draw.”
- John 4:7,9-11,13-15.
We all thirst for something, whether
it is attention, affection, recognition, or acceptance, the body and
soul is constantly in search for something to quench that thirst.
While temporal things quench it for a little while it does not last,
often leaving a bitter aftertaste and us searching for something more
potent and less effective to quench that thirst. The eternal living
water that we drink through Jesus Christ, not only quenches the
thirst of our soul it also gives satisfaction to the flesh as it
receives that attention, affection, recognition, and acceptance from
God. Who better to be accepted of than God? What better recognition
to get from than by God? Who better to get your attention than God
Himself? What better gift to receive that one by God as we drink from
the fountain of living water.
Through Isaiah God encourages
Israel to not get discouraged and lose faith in Him during their time
of judgment. While He does remind them of the rebellion that was the
cause of His judgment in the first place, He also reminds them that
they are His people and He will never forget that they are His.
“For
I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: I gave
Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee. Since thou wast
precious in my sight, thou hast been honourable, and I have loved
thee: therefore will I give men for thee, and people for thy life.
Fear
not: for I am with thee: I will bring thy seed from the east, and
gather thee from the west; I will say to the north, Give up; and to
the south, Keep not back: bring my sons from far, and my daughters
from the ends of the earth; Even every one that is called by my name:
for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have
made him.”
- Isaiah 43:3-7.
God's favor and good will toward His people
are a great comfort to true believers, they are so precious in His
sight. They do not fear acceptance because they know they are
accepted already by God Himself. He delights in them, even when they
make mistakes, He sees them as far above any people He created, He
formed them as new creatures as they believe and are redeemed with
the blood of His Son, the only Savior. “But
when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made
of a woman, made under the law, To
redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the
adoption of sons. And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the
Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. Wherefore
thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of
God through Christ.”
- Galatians 4:4-7.
God's message was not only for the Jews,
but for all who believe in Him, God created everyone and everything,
but being a creation is nothing compared to being an heir, a child of
God. Once a person accepts Christ as their Savior they, in fact,
become a child of God and just like earthly parents can never disown
their kids God never disown His kids. God assures Israel that even
those whom had fallen into idolatry are still His and He will save
them.
“For
I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry
ground: I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon
thine offspring: And they shall spring up as among the grass, as
willows by the water courses. One shall say, I am the LORD'S; and
another shall call himself by the name of Jacob; and another shall
subscribe with his hand unto the LORD, and surname himself by the
name of Israel. Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his
redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and
beside me there is no God. And who, as I, shall call, and shall
declare it, and set it in order for me, since I appointed the ancient
people? and the things that are coming, and shall come, let them shew
unto them...Remember these, O Jacob and Israel; for thou art my
servant: I have formed thee; thou art my servant: O Israel, thou
shalt not be forgotten of me. I have blotted out, as a thick cloud,
thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins: return unto me; for I
have redeemed thee.”
- Isaiah 44:3-7,21,22.
Water is the emblem of the Holy
Spirit, as the Holy Spirit comes into the soul, just as water, it is
refreshing, cleansing, and thirst quenching. The gift of the Holy
Spirit in us is what brings every person to God and even brings the
backslider back to Him. The
work of redemption bought for us by Christ, encourages us to hope for
all blessings from Him as all our sins are blotted out, never to be
remembered again. “He
that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I
will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will
confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.”
- Revelation 3:5.
The comforts that flow into the soul when it
receives the living water in it are like no other. That refreshing,
cleansing, thirst quenching water quenches away the weight tying you
down, the guilt and shame of the past, and the burdens you carry. It
mends the broken heart, lessens the worry, and reminds us that we are
accepted. “In
the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried,
saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that
believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall
flow rivers of living water.”
- John 7:37,38.
Today's
Prayer:
Jesus,
The comfort that flows through my soul comes as you cleanse my
mind, body, and soul with Your thirst quenching water. Lord, when I
am burdened with the cares of the world, drench me and fill me with
Your water. Give me the peace and comfort I need as You refresh and
cleanse me of these cares, knowing that they will all come to pass as
I keep drinking Your living water. I Love You, Lord, and ask this is
Your name, Jesus. Amen.
God Bless You, I am praying for
you,
Christina
