David becomes
King of Israel, Catalog of his mighty men, David’s army at Ziglag,
the leaders who made David king, and David’s failed attempt to
bring the Ark of God back to Jerusalem.
Hello
My Friend/Guest,
“For
I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among
you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but
to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the
measure of faith. For as we have many members in one body, and all
members have not the same office: So
we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of
another. Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is
given to us,”
- Romans 12:3-6a.
Those whom have called on Jesus Christ to
save them become a part of the body of Christ. No matter how much we
try, not one person is able to do everything there is to do in the
world. Therefore, God has given us all different skills, talents,
personalities, attitudes, and even experiences for one main purpose
and that is to bring others to Him. When we use our abilities as God
purposed we can not fail, and will always see victory.
After
years of struggles, patience, and praying David is finally receiving
the promise that God made to him as a boy, that he would be king of
Israel. The first thing he does as king is set up his army. David
chose men of all tribes who were skilled in specific weaponry instead
of choosing just one tribe.
“So
David waxed greater and greater: for the LORD of hosts was with him.
These also are the chief of the mighty men whom David had, who
strengthened themselves with him in his kingdom, and with all Israel,
to make him king, according to the word of the LORD concerning
Israel. And this is the number of the mighty men whom David had;
Jashobeam, an Hachmonite, the chief of the captains: he lifted up his
spear against three hundred slain by him at one time... And Abishai
the brother of Joab, he was chief of the three: for lifting up his
spear against three hundred, he slew them, and had a name among the
three.”
- I Chronicles 11:9-11,20.
The honors of Christ’s kingdom
are prepared for those who fight the good fight of faith and are
willing to venture even life itself for Christ’s sake. “Fight
the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art
also called, and hast professed a good profession before many
witnesses.”
- I Timothy 6:12.
David continued to set up Israel in the way
God directed him, even if that meant he had to deal with some people
who he thought was his friends, but were against him in every way. At
first, the House of Israel was against David being king, in fact,
they chose Saul's son to reign over them, while David reigned in
Hebron. It was not until all of the House of Saul had been killed
before they accepted David as king of all of Israel.
“And
there came of the children of Benjamin and Judah to the hold unto
David. And
David went out to meet them, and answered and said unto them, If ye
be come peaceably unto me to help me, mine heart shall be knit unto
you: but if ye be come to betray me to mine enemies, seeing there is
no wrong in mine hands, the God of our fathers look thereon, and
rebuke it. Then the spirit came upon Amasai, who was chief of the
captains, and he said, Thine are we, David, and on thy side, thou son
of Jesse: peace, peace be unto thee, and peace be to thine helpers;
for thy God helpeth thee. Then David received them, and made them
captains of the band.”
- I Chronicles 12:16-18.
When the throne of Christ is set up
in a soul, there is, or ought to be, great joy in that soul knowing
that our provisions are made, not only here on earth, but for
eternity in heaven and beyond as well. Happiness is in those who
wisely perceive it to be their duty and interest, to submit to the
Savior Jesus Christ, at all times, not just when things are going
well. Those who break through and overcome in these attempts will
receive the victory. “For
this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his
commandments are not grievous. For
whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the
victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. Who is he that
overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of
God?”
- I John 5:3-5.
We
all have to remember one important thing, God is with us. Satan knows
this, in fact, the stronger our faith in God, the more Satan is
trying to weaken us. Our strength comes from Christ and as long as we
remain in His power, no one can knock us down, not even Satan.
Therefore to see the victory we must arm ourselves with what God has
given us.
“Put
on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the
wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but
against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the
darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able
to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand
therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the
breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation
of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith,
wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the
wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the
Spirit, which is the word of God:”
- Ephesians 6:11-17. The number one key to victory is salvation
through Jesus Christ, He and He alone gives us the victory over
Satan, hell, and every fight we will ever encounter. Praise God!
Jesus
Revealed:
Today Jesus is revealed through David, the anointed king, Christ is
the Anointed King of Kings who will reign over all for eternity.
“That
thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the
appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ: Which
in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate,
the King of kings, and Lord of lords;”
- I Timothy 6:14,15.
God
Bless You, I am praying for you,
Christina
