The promises
to Cyrus for Israel’s sake, proof of God’s eternal power and
sovereignty, encouragement is given to the believing Jews, the doom
of idol worshipers, and Israelis exhorted to remember the power of
God and powerlessness of those idols.
Hello
My Friend/Guest,
“Through
faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God,
so that things which are seen were not made of things which do
appear...By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place
which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went
out, not knowing whither he went. By faith he sojourned in the land
of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with
Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise: For
he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker
is God...These all died in faith, not having received the promises,
but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and
embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on
the earth.”
- Hebrews 11:3,8-10,13.
The trial of Abraham's faith was,
that he simply and fully obeyed the call of God, since he did not
have the Bible that we do today, all Abraham could do was live by
complete faith in the promises that He made. Faith is the firm
persuasion that God will perform all that He has promised to us
through Jesus Christ, who sets the seal in believers that God is
true. The way of faith is the only way to victory, peace, assurance,
and endurance through our trials. All true believers desire the
heavenly inheritance, and the stronger faith is, the strong the
desires to see them is. Though strangers and pilgrims on the earth
,believers, by faith, overcome the terrors of eternal death, and will
bid a cheerful farewell to this world, looking forward to that
blessed day they get to meet their Maker.
A maker is one that
makes, forms, shapes, or molds something into existence. God is the
Maker of all and one day we will all meet our Maker, though many will
wish they had not. Through Isaiah, God foretells of the fate of Cyrus
as well as unbelievers, giving proof of His eternal power.
“Thus
saith the LORD to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have
holden, to subdue nations before him; and I will loose the loins of
kings, to open before him the two leaved gates; and the gates shall
not be shut; I
will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight: I will
break in pieces the gates of brass, and cut in sunder the bars of
iron: And I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden
riches of secret places, that thou mayest know that I, the LORD,
which call thee by thy name, am the God of Israel...Thus saith the
LORD, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker, Ask me of things to come
concerning my sons, and concerning the work of my hands command ye
me. I have made the earth, and created man upon it: I, even my hands,
have stretched out the heavens, and all their host have I commanded.
I have raised him up in righteousness, and I will direct all his
ways: he shall build my city, and he shall let go my captives, not
for price nor reward, saith the LORD of hosts.”
- Isaiah 45:1-3,11-13.
The Lord of believers who serve and
trust Him is the Almighty God Himself, who is only revealed to us as
we yield to the Holy Spirit. By faith we pray and are redeemed, by
faith we ask anything in His name and receive it, by faith we are set
free from the depths of hell, eagerly awaiting our commands from God.
“Verily,
verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do
shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I
go unto my Father. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will
I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask
any thing in my name, I will do it.”
- John
14:12-14.
All that God has to say to us is plain,
satisfactory, just, and found in His Written Word, any belief other
than what is found in His Word is false. Through Isaiah God ensure
His believers that He will never leave them and also challenges those
putting their faith in false gods.
“Bel
boweth down, Nebo stoopeth, their idols were upon the beasts, and
upon the cattle: your carriages were heavy loaden; they are a burden
to the weary beast. They
stoop, they bow down together; they could not deliver the burden, but
themselves are gone into captivity... Remember the former things of
old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is
none like me, Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient
times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall
stand, and I will do all my pleasure:..I
bring near my righteousness; it shall not be far off, and my
salvation shall not tarry: and I will place salvation in Zion for
Israel my glory.”
- Isaiah 46:1,2,9,10,13.
Putting faith in false gods,
statues, and pictures is worthless, they might appear to show some
good, but in the end the outcome would be much worse. There is no
other God who can transform a wicked soul, there is no other God who
can cure a deadly disease, there is no other God who can save a soul
from hell. Salvation
for the sinner begins with a humble and contrite heart, one that
trembles at God's Word and
by faith puts their trust in Christ to save them. “As
it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none
that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are
all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there
is none that doeth good, no, not one...Even the righteousness of God
which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that
believe: for there is no difference: For
all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified
freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:”
- Romans 3:10-12,22-24.
Faith
us the substance that holds the glue of our relationship with God,
without faith we do not get very far, the key to seeing the blessings
of living by faith is learning God's Word and living by it. While our
works do not get us saved, our works do help us receive God's
blessings beyond salvation as we simply and fully obey His Word, not
just some of it, but all of it. “But
continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been
assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; And
that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able
to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ
Jesus. All
scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for
doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in
righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly
furnished unto all good works.”
- II Timothy 3:14-17.
Today's
Prayer:
Dear God,
I know the importance of living by
faith for without it I would not even be sitting here right now
talking to You. God, lead me and guide me, help me to follow Your
will by living in Your Word. Increase my faith so much so that
everything I do and go through reminds me that You are at work in my
life and that all things will come to past. Best of all I know that I
will be blessed even more as I simply and fully obey Your commands. I
love You Lord, and ask these things in Jesus' name. Amen.
God
Bless You, I am praying for you,
Christina
