Stay Grounded
Hello
My Friend/Guest,
Today is Monday January 04, 2010 and we are
reading through the Bible in a year. Today's message comes from the
reading of the book of Genesis chapters 10-12. If you would like to
read the chapters along with us you can Click

You
would think that since there were only eight people left on the earth
that all of them would have followed God right? Well, they might have
all started out that way, but the truth is that one of them slowly
began to put himself first rather than God. All it takes is just one
day without reading the Bible or one day without praying for someone
to turn from a faithful servant of God to a self servant. This is
what started the division between Noah's children and their future
descendants. Noah's three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth, drew the line
between what would be known as the Jews and the Gentiles. Before Noah
died he vowed a curse on the descendants of Canaan, Ham's his
youngest son, because of his behavior toward his time of weakness.
“And
he said, Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his
brethren. And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of Shem; and Canaan
shall be his servant. God shall enlarge Japheth, and he shall dwell
in the tents of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.”
- Genesis 9:25-27. This is the future of all generations, the
descendants of Shem are none other than the Jews, whom for a great
while were the only professing people God had in the world. It is
through the generations of Shem that Jesus would descend from. The
descendants of Japheth would become the isles of the Gentiles, known
as those whom would be converted into the professing faith of God.
Now, Ham's descendants, more importantly, his son Canaan's
descendants would be in constant battle with the Jews. As long as we
have this flesh we have a sin nature in us (until Jesus returns)
therefore, people will fall, regardless of how faithful they were to
God in the past, unless they stay grounded in the Word of God. How do
people fall? Want. We have to admit that we want everything the way
we want it and we want it right now. The second we do not get it we
start thinking of ways in which we can get it, right now. Much of the
time, this want takes us away from God and before you know it, He is
out of the picture completely.
Did you ever wonder why there
are so many languages in the world? Well, at one time all the earth
spoke one language. However, as the children of God mixed with the
children of man it began to create compromise and false doctrine.
Once God saw that His people were getting corrupted by the worldly
people He decided to create different languages to keep them from
understanding what they were saying. “And
the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech. And it came
to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in
the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there. And they said one to
another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them thoroughly. And they
had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter. And they said, Go
to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto
heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon
the face of the whole earth. And the LORD came down to see the city
and the tower, which the children of men builded. And the LORD said,
Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this
they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which
they have imagined to do. Go to, let us go down, and there confound
their language, that they may not understand one another's speech. So
the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the
earth: and they left off to build the city. Therefore is the name of
it called Babel; because the LORD did there confound the language of
all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon
the face of all the earth.”
- Genesis 11:1-9. This is the exact reason why people who live in
the world or even so called men of God do not understand the Bible.
God will not allow anyone to understand Him as long as they are
teaching lies about Him. Sadly though, it is these people that the
world and even many Christian's always follow.
You know,
before the Bible, these people did not have a book to guide them and
teach them about God. Instead they had to rely totally on their
faith, not knowing what the future might hold. Of course they made
mistakes, but it was through those mistakes that they learned to
trust only Go. That is why they were recorded in the Bible, they were
ordinary people, some whom have gotten into some serious trouble,
used by God to do wonderful things for Him. More than four hundred
years had passed since the last recorded communication from heaven.
Because of the sinful tendency of mankind, God spoke to Abraham (a
descent of Shem) and asked him to surrender everything he had. By
faith, Abraham took his wife, leaving his family and life to follow
God's will. “Now
the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from
thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will
shew thee: And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless
thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: And I
will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and
in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed. So Abram
departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and
Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran.
And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother's son, and all
their substance that they had gathered, and the souls that they had
gotten in Haran; and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan;
and into the land of Canaan they came.”
- Genesis 12:1-5. Abram responded to God's call and gave up all that
was precious to him. He gave up his country, home, and friends and by
faith obeyed God, committing himself to an unknown future. He could
not have known that the journey would be more than a thousand miles
to the promised land. Many have started out in the right direction
with the people of God, but when confronted with worldly
opportunities, they decide on self-interest and eventually find
themselves caught up in worldly affairs. The only way to have a right
relationship with God and receive the desires of the heart is by
trusting and obeying Him, of course if we do not know Jesus we do not
know God.
Enjoy the rest of your day/night and God
Bless You, I am praying for you,
Christina
