Hello
My Friend/Guest,
“Rejoice
in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice. Let
your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. Be
careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication
with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God...Those
things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen
in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you...I can do all
things through Christ which strengtheneth me...But
my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by
Christ Jesus.”
- Philippians 4:4-6,9,13,19.
Genuine happiness is spiritual
as it can only come from God, the believer’s hope and joy comes
through our Savior, Jesus Christ. His compassion for us should
engage us to be steady and constant, running the Christian course
with patience, and always rejoicing in Him. He gives strength for us
to do all things, whether to do or bear and He will supply every need
of the trusting soul.
The word compassion means to have a
feeling
of
deep
sympathy
and sorrow for another who is stricken
by misfortune
and accompanied
by a strong desire to alleviate
the suffering.
You
will often read that Jesus had or was moved with compassion toward
someone who faith in Him. Jesus loved everyone, but always had
compassion on those who truly sought Him with all their heart, such
as the case when He fed the 4000 people who followed Him for three
days.
“In
those days the multitude being very great, and having nothing to eat,
Jesus called his disciples unto him, and saith unto them, I have
compassion on the multitude, because they have now been with me three
days, and have nothing to eat: And if I send them away fasting to
their own houses, they will faint by the way: for divers of them came
from far. And his disciples answered him, From whence can a man
satisfy these men with bread here in the wilderness? And he asked
them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven. And he commanded
the people to sit down on the ground: and he took the seven loaves,
and gave thanks, and brake, and gave to his disciples to set before
them; and they did set them before the people. And they had a few
small fishes: and he blessed, and commanded to set them also before
them. So they did eat, and were filled: and they took up of the
broken meat that was left seven baskets.”
-Mark 8:1-8.
Jesus
always has compassion for and takes care of those who have faith in
Him, but if we want His help we must ask for it. Think about it this
way, how many people willingly help someone who has not asked them
for help? Not many, right? Now, how many will help when someone asks
them for help? Most people are willing to help, but they do not want
to invade or get involved unless someone asks them for help first. It
does not mean that they do not compassion for that person, it just
means that they will not interfere unless asked specifically. God
says, “Call
unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty
things, which thou knowest not.”
- Jeremiah 33:3.
Sometimes
circumstances can blind our faith and cause us to follow Christ
halfheartedly, but as long as we hold on to a tiny bit of faith Jesus
can turn every circumstance around, such as the case of a son
possessed by the devil from the time he was a child.
“And
one of the multitude answered and said, Master, I have brought unto
thee my son, which hath a dumb spirit; And
wheresoever he taketh him, he teareth him: and he foameth, and
gnasheth with his teeth, and pineth away: and I spake to thy
disciples that they should cast him out; and they could not. He
answereth him, and saith, O faithless generation, how long shall I be
with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him unto me. And they
brought him unto him: and when he saw him, straightway the spirit
tare him; and he fell on the ground, and wallowed foaming. And he
asked his father, How long is it ago since this came unto him? And he
said, Of a child. And ofttimes it hath cast him into the fire, and
into the waters, to destroy him: but if thou canst do any thing, have
compassion on us, and help us. Jesus said unto him, If thou canst
believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. And
straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears,
Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief. When Jesus saw that the
people came running together, he rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto
him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him, and
enter no more into him. And the spirit cried, and rent him sore, and
came out of him: and he was as one dead; insomuch that many said, He
is dead. But Jesus took him by the hand, and lifted him up; and he
arose.”
- Mark 9:17-26.
The key to Christ having compassion on us and
giving us the things we need is believing in Him, much is promised to
us by our believing in Him. Those that complain of unbelief, must
look up to Christ for grace to help them against it, and His grace
will be sufficient for them. Satan knows that we have the power to
overcome all our pain and suffering and that power comes only from
the Lord, Jesus Christ. Why do you think he attacks us so much?
Instead of seeking help from others first, seek Jesus, talk to Him,
spend time with Him, He will have compassion on you and show you what
is needed and send you the help you need, you just have to believe in
Him. “And
all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall
receive.”
- Matthew 21:22. “, “And
whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father
may be glorified in the Son.”
- John 14:13.
Prayer and fasting is using all of our ability
to seek God to help us, it is spending much more time with Him than
we usually do. It is telling Him that He is more valuable than any
possession we have, even food. Taking that extra time with God is
sometimes needed as it not only shows Him that we need Him, it also
gets us to realize that We
Can Do Nothing Without Him
and that All
Things Are Possible When We Believe.
“And
Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not
with God: for with God all things are possible.”
-Mark 10:27.
If we have the Son in us, God will never leave
nor forsake us, even if we have walked away from Him. Why? We all
have this wretched flesh, God knows we are going to sin again,
therefore, He will always have compassion on those who wholeheartedly
received His Son, no matter how long it has been since they said, “I
believe”. “For
their heart was not right with him, neither were they stedfast in his
covenant. But
he, being full of compassion, forgave their iniquity, and destroyed
them not: yea, many a time turned he his anger away, and did not stir
up all his wrath. For he remembered that they were but flesh; a wind
that passeth away, and cometh not again.”
- Psalm 78:37-39. God has just as much compassion on those who have
walked away and returned to Him, as He does on those who come to Him
for the first time. God hates sin, but lives sinners, “And
the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love
which is in Christ Jesus. This is a faithful saying, and worthy of
all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save
sinners; of whom I am chief. Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy,
that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for
a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life
everlasting.”
-I Timothy 1:14-16.
Today's
Prayer:
Dear
God,
Lord, Your compassion for us is outstanding and merciful, no
matter how many times we fall You never give up us. Today, I am
placing all my cares and sorrows before Your Son, it is only through
Him that I receive the strength needed to overcome my burdens. I look
to You, not myself or others, for the answers to my troubles and for
Spirit-directed perspective in knowing how to handle them. I choose
to trust in You, and know that whatever I ask, believing I will
receive as I patiently run the race that is set before me. I love
You, Lord and ask this in Jesus' name. Amen.
God Bless You, I
am praying for you,
Christina
