Today's
Message: The
River of Life
All
the blessings of life come through Jesus Christ, who is the Living
Water that flows through our River of Life, and are equally available
to all who desire Him to be Savior and Lord of their lives.
A
human body and even our world contains about 70% water, therefore,
water is essential for life. People, animals, and plants need water
in order to survive. One can go days without food as long as they
have water in them, however go one day without water and you will be
in heaven sooner than you think. So, why the lesson on water? Well,
just as we need water to keep us alive physically we need water to
keep us alive spiritually. If the physical things we see are
essentially water, don't you think the spiritual things we do not see
are as well? “Whosoever
drinketh of this water shall thirst again: But
whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never
thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of
water springing up into everlasting life.” - John 4:13b,14.
Therefore, we need spiritual water to
keep us alive spiritually.
As
we complete the book of Ezekiel we learn of the final part of his
vision regarding the Temple in the Millennium. The first part
of Ezekiel's final vision from God described the Temple,
the second part described the worship and character of the
worshipers, the now the final part describes the waters of
life flowing into the Dead Sea, bringing forth fresh, life-giving
water where there had once been death and desolation. “Afterward
he brought me again unto the door of the house; and, behold, waters
issued out from under the threshold of the house eastward: for the
forefront of the house stood toward the east, and the waters came
down from under from the right side of the house, at the south side
of the altar. Then brought he me out of the way of the gate
northward, and led me about the way without unto the utter gate by
the way that looketh eastward; and, behold, there ran out waters on
the right side. And when the man that had the line in his hand went
forth eastward, he measured a thousand cubits, and he brought me
through the waters; the waters were to the ankles. Again he measured
a thousand, and brought me through the waters; the waters were to the
knees. Again he measured a thousand, and brought me through; the
waters were to the loins. Afterward he measured a thousand; and it
was a river that I could not pass over: for the waters were risen,
waters to swim in, a river that could not be passed over. And he said
unto me, Son of man, hast thou seen this? Then he brought me, and
caused me to return to the brink of the river.”
- Ezekiel 47:1-6. Beginning at the altar, Ezekiel first
stepped in waters reaching to the ankle, then to the knees, then to
the thighs, and then they became a river. They flowed gradually and
constantly in the ever deepening stream. Everywhere the river flowed,
it brought life, but the progress of these waters is gradual, yet
constant.
The River of Life has its source in Christ who
created all life and whose glory filled the Temple then spread among
all nations of the earth. “And
he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and
the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the
water of life freely. He that
overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he
shall be my son.” - Revelation 21:6,7. All the spiritual
blessings that now enrich the world come from Him who alone gives
life. Incidentally, the growth of grace in the individual life is a
progressive work, beginning with a small stream from Christ the
Fountainhead and increasing in depth and preciousness and we grow
closer to Him and become more like Him. He can cleanse the most vile
sinner with no exceptions. No one who desires to forsake his sinful
ways is disqualified. All the blessings of life come through Christ,
who is the source of the River of life, which can only contain the
living waters of Christ, and are equally available to all who desire
Him to be Savior and Lord of their lives. Jesus Said, “He
that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly
shall flow rivers of living water. (But this spake he of the Spirit,
which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was
not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)” -
John 7:28,39. As Lord, He expects you to begin reading the Scriptures
so the verses and chapters are easily understood. Others may be
beyond our present understanding, but are revealed by the Holy
Spirit.
Today's
Prayer:
Dear God,
Lord,
I
confess that there are times when my spirit becomes stagnant after I
veer off course and am pulled into the murky waters. Draw me to
the cleansing fountain of Your saving blood which flows from the
cross of Calvary. It is there that springs of living water quench my
thirst and invigorate my spirit so that I am refreshed in the Holy
Spirit and renewed in my resolve to follow You all the days of my
life.
In Jesus' Name..........Amen.
Have
a wonderful and blessed day/night and week.
God
Bless You,
Christina
