Today's
Message:
Union
With Christ
Our
union with Christ takes place at the moment of conversion and its
results exclude all that is not in harmony with God's Word.
The
book of II Peter Is the 22nd
book of the New Testament, the 61st
book of the Bible, and contains 3 chapters. The author of the book is
Peter and it was written to the Christian exiles. The purpose of the
letter was to warn them of the dangers from within, apostasy
(rejection) and false teaching. What we are to learn from the book is
that the greatest two dangers from within the church are apostasy and
false teaching.
As Christian's we are prone to think that all
Christian's have the same beliefs, sadly they do not. Now, I am not
talking about culture, I am talking about their view on Jesus Christ
and who He truly is. Good people are being deceived all over the
world by men and their false teaching, claiming that it was from God.
In this letter, the Apostle Peter addresses this situation and the
people whom have been deceiving them. “Simon
Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have
obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God
and our Saviour Jesus Christ: Grace and peace be multiplied unto you
through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, According as his
divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and
godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory
and virtue: Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious
promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature,
having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.”
- II Peter 1:1-4. When we read God's Word, with a desire to please
Him, our inner life is strengthened. God has made full provision for
every Christian to live a victorious Christian life. The Holy Spirit
enables us to endure temptation, suffering, failure, sin, and even
success or pride as we stay in the Bible and learn more each time we
read His Word.
Every Christian should be determined to yield
his life daily to the will of God, how do we yield daily to the will
of God? Through the Holy Spirit. God unites our will with His by the
power of the indwelling Holy Spirit. Many will question the Bible to
be the true Word of God, the most common response by people who
refuse to acknowledge the Bible say “How can it be God's Word when
a man wrote it?” Well, as I always stress that there is an answer
to every question written in the Bible, here is the answer to this
question. Knowing
this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private
interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of
man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.”
- II Peter 1:20,21. The Bible was written by men filled with the Holy
Spirit, who God chose to represent Him and teach the truth. If you
look at these men they are just as you and I, only there was one
major difference. They
had faith in God!
Today, God will still use ordinary people that have truly gotten
themselves into some messes to represent Him. We just have to have
faith in Him and seek to follow His will.
Since God's first
concern for His children is that they be morally and spiritually
healthy whatever they are facing, during our lives is necessary to
face difficulties and circumstances in order for God to give us love,
discipline, and correction, especially when we sin. Just as any
earthly father would discipline a child, God disciplines us, for His
holiness and His wrath against sin are inseparable. "The
Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count
slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any
should perish, but that all should come to repentance. But the day of
the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens
shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with
fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be
burned up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what
manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and
godliness, Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God,
wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the
elements shall melt with fervent heat? Nevertheless we, according to
his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth
righteousness. Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such
things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without
spot, and blameless.”
- II Peter 3: 9-14. Each day that we read God's Word our daily life
is transformed to reflect His life through us. Think about many of
the things that you once did before being saved and how they just do
not seem right to do anymore, that is the Holy Spirit working in us.
Praise God!
Have a wonderful and blessed day/night and Merry
Christmas
God
Bless You,
Christina
