Today's
Message: Where is Wisdom?
Satan
would like nothing better than to trick you into thinking that what
you are reading is the truth and he in fact is. It's time to get back
to reading the Word of God where there is wisdom.
All
adult men who were physically able were required by the Law to attend
three major feasts annually in Jerusalem. These occasions were to be
joyful celebrations of praise to God for His provision and
protection. But, on this occasion God did not give the crowd a warm
welcome, through Jeremiah God pleads for them to turn from their
sinful ways before it is too late. “The word
that came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying, Stand in the gate of the
LORD's house, and proclaim there this word, and say, Hear the word of
the LORD, all ye of Judah, that enter in at these gates to worship
the LORD. Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, Amend your
ways and your doings, and I will cause you to dwell in this place.
Trust ye not in lying words, saying, The temple of the LORD, The
temple of the LORD, The temple of the LORD, are these. For if ye
throughly amend your ways and your doings; if ye throughly execute
judgment between a man and his neighbour; If ye oppress not the
stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and shed not innocent blood
in this place, neither walk after other gods to your hurt: Then will
I cause you to dwell in this place, in the land that I gave to your
fathers, for ever and ever.” - Jeremiah 7:1-7. God
is telling them to personally to mend their ways and is telling us
the same thing. The key to mending our ways is to understand His
Word, know His plan and what He expects of us. That is to know Him,
love Him, trust Him, and Hear Him when He speaks.
The people
considered Jeremiah's preaching far too narrow-minded, so they would
not tolerate this prophet of God. Through Jeremiah, God continues,
“How
do ye say, We are wise, and the law of the LORD is with us? Lo,
certainly in vain made he it; the pen of the scribes is in vain. The
wise men are ashamed, they are dismayed and taken: lo, they have
rejected the word of the LORD; and what wisdom is in them? Therefore
will I give their wives unto others, and their fields to them that
shall inherit them: for every one from the least even unto the
greatest is given to covetousness, from the prophet even unto the
priest every one dealeth falsely.” - Jeremiah 8:8-10. God
is asking them how can they be wise in My Word when your scribes
(transcribers) have changed the meaning of them. The false pen is
those whom have changed the meaning of God's Word
by re-writing the Scriptures. All wisdom comes from God and those who
reject the very Word of God by reading substitutions are being
foolish. It's time to get
rid of that substitute trash that is used for a replacement for the
Word of God and get used to thinking for yourself from His Holy Word,
that is where true wisdom comes from. Now
do not mistake a sermon or Bible study as a substitution for God's
Word, these are guides to help you understand, not a replacement, one
still needs to read His Word to know Him personally. Jesus Said, “If
ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And
ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
- John 8:31b,32.
A ministry or church may be popular in the
eyes of the world, but have little spiritual effect, God said, “Who
is the wise man, that may understand this? and who is he to whom the
mouth of the LORD hath spoken, that he may declare it, for what the
land perisheth and is burned up like a wilderness, that none passeth
through? And the LORD saith, Because they have forsaken my law which
I set before them, and have not obeyed my voice, neither walked
therein; But have walked after the imagination of their own heart,
and after Baalim, which their fathers taught them:” -
Jeremiah 9:12-14. Then, as now, people foolishly assume that each
person should have the freedom to worship whomever or whatever he
chooses according to his own conscience. But Jesus Said, “I
am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father,
but by me.” - John 14:6.
Today's Prayer:
Dear
God,
Lord, we hold on to the
confidence we have in You, knowing that in Your appointed time we
will receive the full range of rewards that comes to those who remain
steadfast in their walk with You. We have already received the
reward of peace that comes from knowing our sins are forgiven. We
are rewarded with Your daily presence that guides us into all
truth. But we only see in part the rewards in this life that You
grant to the believer, for we know You have much stored up for us to
enjoy in heaven where sin cannot taint or corrupt those rewards.
Help us to hold on, not give up, and to greatly anticipate our future
reward of eternity with You. In Jesus' Name...........Amen.
Have
a wonderful and blessed Lord's Day and enjoy your week.
God Bless
you,
Christina
